Looks like a 3 hour drive from K-town to find some sunshine. Any help will be appreciated in Hawaiian fashion. Any suggestions on where to go?

Welcome to ACD and Germany (I'm just south of Stuttgart).
From K-town, you're about 2:45 from Maastricht, 3:30 from Eindhoven, and 4:30 from Amsterdam. I've driven from Amsterdam through these cities and K-town on my way to Heidelberg, which is 5:15 from Amsterdam. Fick mich, zu viel scheisse. (Fuck me, too much shit).
Maastricht has slightly higher prices than Amsterdam, but the quality is on par, more or less. Same applies to Eindhoven, and in my opinion is a better place to party than Maastricht.
Shops in Maastricht that I like to sit and have a comfortable smoke are:
Tearoom Heaven 69 and Maxcy's.
Shops in Eindhoven, same reasons as above:
Euro-Garden, New Wave, Grasshopper, and Meet Point.
Enjoy.

Thanks for the great info. What about that new law in Mass. Will they welcome outsiders? If your ever up this way let me know. Any problems on the drive back?

You are welcome, always.
What 'new' law are you referring to? If you are over 18yo and can prove it (proper ID), and not on a banned list, you should be able to enter any coffee-shop, all things considered.
As for welcoming outsiders, huh? If you are referring to the locals, particularly those who don't smoke, maybe not so much. It's really up to you and the attitude and behavior that you display. Be chill, all is good; act like an asshole, get treated like one. Unfortunately there are many people who chose/choose to act like assholes. That's the gist of it, more or less.
No significant problems when driving except for the occasional Stau (traffic jam). I no longer make that drive, instead I take the train or once in a while fly. Cheaper and more comfortable, for me anyway. Best round-trip price from Stuttgart to Amsterdam - Rail: 58.50 Euro/$82; Air: 88 Euros/$123.
Not much choice in K-town, drive or rail. Best bet if taking the train, drive to Mannheim Hbf (30 min) and hop on; Cheaper and quicker. You might also consider purchasing a Bahn Card.

I read where in the town of Mass. they will only sell to people who are from that area because there were so many Germans coming to their town. Thanks for all the information. I might drive the first time until I get things figured out...

MG,
Over the past six years, I've been to 12 out of the 15 shops in Maa. on a semi-regular basis. I have never seen nor heard of a person being turned away because of their nationality. I've seen people turned away because they were underage, didn't have proper ID or none at all, and the rare knucklehead who has been banned.
I have no doubt that there have been people who have been refused entry because of their nationality, not to mention race/religion, but not as a standard practice by all C/S's. If this were factual, there would be an enormous amount of chatter in this forum.
There is a movement that would allow municipalities the authority to regulate C/S's, read shut them down or make them "Dutch-Only". This topic has been commented on extensively in this forum. Search and ye shall find.
Be safe and have fun.
