Help a hash beginner please.....

Hey,

Im not exactly an amsterdam virgin having been 6 times but when it comes to hash i havent a clue. In the UK the only hash that goes about is the 'rocky' stuff or 'ash'. I never been a fan though as i know about the amount of shit that goes into making this stuff. I suppose this kind of put me off hash, but buying it in amsterdam i know it will be (at least i hope) good shit.

The problem is i wouldn't know what good hash is just by looking. I also have no idea about what different typed of hash do to you, how they make you feel. Are they all a heavy indica type stonedness? Do the tastes vary as much as they do with weed?

I've tried a few isolators and they were okay but obviously i couldnt spend my day smoking isolators, i wouldnt last too long. neither would my cash. Last trip i bought some honey from hunters, but i mixed it with cheese, and it just made it a heavier smoke, not much taste difference.

Im just really looking forward to trying some hash this time, just want to make sure i head in the right direction

Any Maroccan over 6Euro per gram will be decent enough. Same with any hash really. Name means nothing really, its just a slab of hash from some country. Just look at the price and country of origin.

In terms of Morrocan hash (which is the hash I mostly smoke), seems that if you go for the cheap end of the market you end up with something that reminds me of soapbar.

A lot of people rave about Rifman products (Dampkring group of coffeeshops) and rightly so. Not because they are the best because they aren't all up there (though I wanna try some Aziza one day) but due to reliability of a good smoke.

But you do at least get quality stuff that softens quickly with the heat of your fingers and smells more pure.

The cheap stuff I was telling you about that resembles soap bar is nearly always rock hard and just does not taste anywhere near as good.

Just keep reading the boards, some places seem to have a good rep for hash. A lot of folks talk about De Graal as being another good place to score hash.

Generally speaking (and I say that with all the usual caveats), I recommend paying at least 8 Euro a gram to ensure you get decent enough hash most of the time. This is a rule of thumb I sometimes use, a bit like aiming for weed that is over 10 Euro a gram.

It won't guarantee you great hash but if you want to try a lot of different hashes and you don't have time to waste burning your shoe leather out and getting the best deals everywhere you go then this is not a bad rule to follow.

I have not talked about the 15/20/25/35 hashes that are getting into ice hash territory. That's a different kettle of fish altogether but personally I don't like spending 15 Euros or more on weed OR hash.

my suggestion is to go to basjoe and try their royal hash (moroccan) and the cream special (manali cream type hashish)

they are not the cheaper options, but they are truly fine examples of their type ... after tasting these you will know the important things to know about hash - the taste on the inhale, the taste on the exhale, the aroma and the effect
