well there more like knockin about there house doorway rather than blatentl in the windows like a say dunna need em thou cause theres about or there has been 10massage parlours within a 5 mile radius and there tolerated , yea genevas red light district is qaulity but its not the only reason id go there.

I remember reading a few years ago an interview with a coffeeshop owner and he said if there were ever a no foreigners policy, he would just have a dutch national sitting at the bud counter getting it for tourists.

Yeah, coffeeshops sure as fuck don't want to stop selling to foreigners so I would wager they would try and find a backdoor to whatever the current bunch of liars in power come up with. Of course this is just imo.

I would think the "windows" are a bad vibe on Amsterdam (funky etc to look at in case of a a visitor - and not great for the client or supplier really)

The coffeeshops are something eese - apart from the few "overkills" - they are a great incentive to visit along with the architecre , museums , food etc and a great incentive. Certainly , I went this year with a smoke in mind , but other things on agenda (TBF - smoke was an incentive) -and put some welcome cash into the economy- (Dutch growth by the way is -4% or so at the moment)

By all means controll the excesses of some of the "border" issues - but "laissez faire" would seem a fair option.

If there ever was a need for an adult-only "theme" park...
Somewhere outside of the ring road, utilize an area of reclaimed land and erect (pun intended ) a "sin city" if you will. I liken this to the now defunct "combat zone" in Boston, which was an approximate 2 city block area where one could find just about anything (pros and drugs). Anyone remember Times Square in the 70's? The freaks really did come out at night.
Move all pros. and C/S's in the RLD to this area, make it controlled-access, ie... no one under 18, etc... This could (operative word) also aid in reducing the flow of hard drugs, forced prostitution, ect... Of course there will be those who would argue that if they were to eradicate the entire industry that this would also provide the same results. Ignorant twats.

I don't know about you but for me being able to wander round such a unique and beautiful city while stoned is the whole appeal of Amsterdam- driving to a specially built shithole filled with nothing but degenerates and hard drug users isn't the kind of holiday I'd look forward to... I could just go to Swansea instead

Anti-social is a commonly used Dutch term, encompassing a wide range of behaviors. Its certainly not a right wing (or left) term.

Its quite easy to be sarcastic towards, or belittle the Dutch if they do not find into your perceptions of how they should view foreigners and cannabis tourism. That attitude is partially to blame for the crackdown on coffeeshops. People who live in these border towns have been quite vocal about the 'problems' the cross-border traffic brings. Little attention has been paid to them (even the local cities encouraged the trade at times--$$$$) until recently.

So now we are at a place where the law may change, so whatever 'terms' are being used to describe the debate are not really important, in my opinion.

From what it looks to me(and it could be that I am being misled by Google Translate) some of the commenters seem to want Amsterdam to be Paris or Milan. Below is one example.

The problem I see with that is that most of the market for high end goods evaporated with the economy went *POP*(if you would like I can get a few links to back that up). Difficult to sell stuff that there isn't a market for anymore.
