Has anyone stayed at the ITC Hotel on Prinsengracht? Rooms are cheap & reviews not too bad either and you can smoke!!!

Stayed at the Townhouse which is their sister property around the corner. Clean rooms, 10m from the tram stop and definitely smoker friendly as long as you open a window. The hotel is within 15 minutes of the Leidsplein, Waterloopein and the Rembrandtplein. And no more than 10 minutes to Stix or Coffeeshop D&L.

be careful if youve ordered a twin room you will be in the town house across the road. Good location and i smoked out the window every day no probs. Walls are paper thin tho and the door sticks. Was ok for us as the guys next to us were sound. Italian blokes couldnt understand what we were both saying but we both understood weed so had a smoke with em but you could literally hear what was going on in the next room even before we met em.

If youve booked a room try bargaining with em as it wasn't full week after the CC and the whole time we were there there was a vacancy poster in the window.

Chose it as it was the best rated cheap hotel on trip advisor and it is exactly that, if you just want a bed is great, stinks of weed so youre ok to smoke.

A final note, if youre plannig a De Pijp trip trip dont do it until 12.00 as the local shops going that way dont open until that time i.e. YO-Yo etc. Also

The only prob with the townhouse is no desk and fire alram went off 1 morning at 7am, guy came accross from the ITC to turn it off quick enough.

Say summat about the tea / coffee etc. otherwise they wont change it tho just mention youve used it all otherwise they wont change it every day

Last word of warning the trams stop at rembrandtplein for christmas so your best getting a tram to there and then walking

Thanks for the replies folks. We arrived last night and the hotel is perfect for a few days. The room is a decent size for 3 people, plenty room to put luggage etc. Telly & own toilet/shower in the room definately a bonus, could do with a lick of paint but it's clean so not to bad at all. Oh almost forgot, you can smoke in rooms too!!!

Stayed there in Jan 2008. It was a special offer on easy to book. Had a nice double room in the main building. Showers are to die for and the food good. They are smoker friendly and cleaners were cool if you asked them to come back an hour later. Free fast wifi and porn on the TV! Shame that its pretty pricey for a young single traveller as i would jump at the chance to stay there again.
