Thanks puff, I'll add 'em to my list!

The only thing one can do after ingesting a huge wiener is find our next smoking location. The surreal site of a quaint little skating rink decorated for the holidays with tiny tots wobbling in fresh skates holding onto their mom for dear life with the neon sign for Smokeys coffeeshop shines behind them is pure Amsterdam...let's hope it doesn't disappear anytime soon. Rather than visit any of the been there before shops, we backtrack towards Arabica and stop next door at Old Amsterdam.

Meh

Not the worst shop I've been in but we were the only patrons and the Dutch girl, while being polite and trying to be nice, was utterly miserable! She moped, pissed and moaned the whole time. Couple that with NO proper coffee and vending machines and a rather average house special hasj... go to Arabica instead!

Top job hasjdreamer. I'm very interested in your report cause I also smoke more hash than weed. I can suggest you to try if you are around what I think are the best maroccan hash in amsterdam: bab bered, mexmaroc and sherazade. All that from bushdoctor!! 8)

Colino, I've had the MexiMaroc and Scherherezade, both frigging amazing but unfortunately they were out of all Moroccan hasj! I'll try and stop by again before we leave on Sunday...

Leaving Old Amsterdam, grateful for the menu photo and high enough of the hasj. I mean, it wasn't bad, clean and a bit light on intensity but without the choco charm of Tijdighan or the Arabica special nor the intensity of the Rusland sole.

Back in the apartment we smoke and decide to cook in, dinner in the apartment ilk be a first (well, cooking in anyway) since literately every other apartment we've had their kitchen was nasty or useless. Our current apartment has new, clean appliances and my wife's breakfast experiment worked well. So we head out, exchange money for the day and off to the big Albert Heijn on the spui. Steak, butter, fresh green beans, tiny potatoes, olives, fanta, ice cream, 6 pack of Heiney, pasta and sauce... But it all.came to under 24 euro and we retired to our place to cook, drink, smoke and listen to tunes. PERFECTION!

A coffee run to hill street after dinner and we decided a DVD on the couch was in order, so it was back to the small AH next door for slagroom for our hot chocomel and misc munchies and off to stock up for the night.

Stop one: GRRENPLACE

We ask for the next best weeds after what we've already sampled which was Purple kush, sf valley kush and la cheese. Next up in order of recommendation

OG Raskell
OG Cheese
Green Crack

Gram each at 13-14 e/g. The cheese was good but not spectacular, nice cheesy scent but small buds and it felt like neither cross was used for it's full potential but I have been smoking their purple and my tolerance is a bit high!

We actually dared to smoke the raskell this morning and it's thick, rich taste was more in line with my expectations and the Stoney body high relaxed me to the core.

But last night we still needed hasj and, like the prodigal son, I returned to the bluebird for the first time in nearly ten years surprised that it was actually right behind our apartment! Our first must see shop back in the 90's, I fell out of black hasj and was looking for more local vibes shops and, well, just stopped going. In the mood for black, we return and I must say:

COLOR ME IMPRESSED!

Ok, off to the tree lighting ceremony in Dam Square at 6:00!

I agree on the kitchen for sure. I picked our apartment on our last trip based on the picture of the kitchen.

Brilliant narrative - a "must read" after another days work trudging round London to meetings etc. In the cold and student protests.

Glad to hear you are cooking in the apartment - OK we never got beyond scrambled eggs and space cake (time constraints , not culinary as I am a pretty good cook) - but I always think the foreign travel experience is always better when you shop locally and cook!.

Are you going to Paradox ? (you ought to - great place)

I'm surprised at just how close the B bird is from us, just behind a courtyard to our rear, so I was quite relieved to have a positive experience.
We climb the all too familiar narrow staircase and breath a sigh of relief that it's quiet and we're given the opportunity to chat with the older hippie dude with long curly hair. We discuss my desire for some quality black and he directed me to the menu (no longer the much beloved book of dreams) and points to the triple X at half gram for 12.50 and, the runner up Malana 12.50 for 0.8 grams. I opt for both since we're heading back to watch a DVD in the room and I plan on being stocked! The tender gently opens the half gram of xxx revealing the sticky oily glob of black, hashy fuel. This brings me back, nice to see some things don't change... This was my fav hasj back in the day! Same recommendation, freeze it if it gets too sticky. Now this half g went far... Two normal, full sized splits and let me tell you, it was pheNOMinal, far superior to katsu's delicious offering and second only to Bonglord's spoon in strength. Of course how can one compare ANYTHING to spoon? Perhaps our sampling of butter will at least give Bonglords entry SOMETHING to spar with. Yeah, can't wait! Ok, the triple x was sharp like a knife to you lung with a soaringly strong high, clear as the bells that ring on the quarter behind our apartment.

The malana, with it's sleek black rectangular slabs was obviously not as good but a prime black that I only see in bluebird...heavier and rounder but still surprisingly "thin" in a good, Nepalese way... Like digital v analog!

We watch a cheesy horror flick from the '90's called Serial Killer w/ Lisa Loeb and was better than expected!

New movie tonight, the Ripper!

loving this report hasj, eagerly await each update.

Will be there in a few weeks so each installment just makes my mouth water more and more.

My favourite place is paradox, so if its on your list an up to date hash
report would be interesting.
