Also I know its approximately an hour from Montego Bay/Airport to Negril. What is the best way to get there from airport? Do they have like a bus or taxis are best? Thats about all we are lacking info on is how to get from airport and back again at a decent cost.

thanks!
I hired a driver named Baba for the four days i was there and he drove me from Montego Bay to Negril. Picked me up the next morning and drove me to Ocho Rios. I spent two nights in Ocho Rios and then he picked me up and drove me back to the airport in Montego Bay. I think in total i payed $200USD for the complete journey. If you do use a taxi, make sure to settle on a price before you leave, not at the end of the trip.

We are staying at a small resort right on 7 mile beach not too far from Jimmy Buffets.

I've been researching and it appears one doesn't want to ride a bus at all, and you have to be very picky about taxis.

I've found a name of a reputable shuttle service and their number to ride from the airport. If there is any problem I will do as you suggested and go to the help desk. Thanks for all your advice.

We don't have shuttle service at the place we are staying it only includes free breakfast because we want to eat at other places instead of the food being provided like at some of the bigger resorts.

We are gonna wait til we get to Negril before starting to ask about smoke. We were advised to ask the bartender at the place we are staying.

We were gonna go to Amsterdam again but really its too expensive and its too cold over there now. We decided to go somewhere we hadn't been and we both love the ocean.

I am sure I will be asking other things and checking back on comments before we go.

Geeky I am doing ok. My grandmother passed away then my mom did as well so I've went thru a lot lately. This trip will do us both some good to get away. Thanks for asking :)

for now it will have to smoke imports :)
There are several European carriers that fly to Montego Bay. British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Air Berlin, and Arkefly to name a few. A friend of mine who lives outside of Manchester got a return flight for 400 pounds last fall.

Peace

OH Rollin, I so sorry to hear about your loss. I atrip to Jamaica is what you guys need! SOunds like a good plan you have with the shuttle, but if you do get a taxi, just make sure they have the placard that they are certified thru their government and discuss the price before you leave with them. If your not happy with the first price tell them you dont want to pay that and they will come down on the price. Lots of haggling to be done there.

There are taxi people recommended on the hotel site in the reviews...its mostly just getting from airport to Negril cause its about an hour drive from what I understand.

We are very excited to get away especially now in the winter months when I need some sunshine and beach.

Thank you for your kind words.

Went to The RIU Ochos Rios back in November ... great resort, great peeps and of course great smoke.

Easy to get...the bus "helper" who's usually the guy helping the bus driver load and unload luggage. So right away on the shuttle bus right off the plane to go to your resort you can get. So if you need something to tide you over...just get a nice sack from them. I'd say I got about a quarter for $20 US.

Once on the resort... it is basically anywhere. There are people that have sea-dos that are chillin in the water. The resort has property lines along the water where the water is considered part of the resort and anything beyond that line is for the public. So it's about say 30 metres from the shoreline. So when you go out they come and talk to you and offer you anything from weed, coke, x... just have to be careful about the lifeguards and security, but it's relatively safe. They had all different kinds and you can check it out too...all bagged up because I guess if the fell in the water then it wouldn't get wet. Memorable dude I met there and even urbangrower from youtube mentions, is Dr. Phil-Good... he had amazing hash amd very cheap prices for some decent outdoor jamaican bud. Got about a quarter hash and quarter pound of weed sticky green stuff...cost about 75 US, and that lasted me the whole trip and had to give some away when we left. Was too much. We tipped our bus driver with that...

I never smoked on the resort grounds or on the beach, it was always in my room...it was more of a security thing and there were loads of kids there...so not like I'm going to toke one right there with like little kids running around, but at night when the beach is empty I smoked alot there too.

I'd recommend Jamaica to anyone
Now, I don't do drugs, just weed

Thank you so much for all the info. We are getting really excited and can't wait to go beach and relax!!! This place is just invaluable for info for anywhere you travel that is smoker friendly!! I really appreciate ACD and the helpful folks here. I will definitely be taking pics and doing a trip report. I am going to San Fran for my birthday this year so I may have to holler at LuvTick when I hit the coast this fall.

I am stoked, I am ready for sand, water, beach, buzz... and time with my sweetie relaxing and celebrating his bday!

Peace and love -

(Hugs) I'm so sorry to hear you've had so much sadness.

Sounds like some sunshine and good bud is just what you need right now. Have a great trip!

Just got back on Monday, hooked up as soon as we got to the resort.

Lovely Blueberry, great taste and had a real creeper effect.

I would also recommend the brown bud, it is stronger.

As far as transport from the MBJ airport, I would recommend a round trip
shuttle from the airport which can be purchased online prior to arriving.

I plan on making this Island my ganja destination of choice in the future,
still have a trip to A'Dam scheduled for this June.

Scored this from a guy that worked at the the hotel for around $25. Very sticky and smelled like bubblegum. BTW - the hotel was called the White Sands Hotel.

View into my room from the patio. Nice and spacious room that had two queen-sized beds.

Semi-obstructed view from my room/patio. Still pretty to look at....
