I'm not the type of person who is gonna go regardless and enjoy mooching the streets to score...

Pointless worrying?
Am going in April too mate. I don't really fancy going if I'm not going to be able to sit in a coffee shop & chill out. Can't seem to find any straight answers which is frustrating.

I don't think there are any mate. I've not booked yet, but fancied a 420 visit to see whats going on. I'll keep my ear to the ground I guess.

I'm sure it'll take longer than that to implement in Amsterdam (that's if it even goes head) but you never know

At the end of the day holidays are holidays, no one wants to be worried about their precious time away but it's only natural, despite the fact you'll probably get shouted down for it on here

I don't think we'll be the only ones worrying mate, I'm sure there are plenty out there that have trips booked in the up coming months. Will be checking these pages religiously now though.

Truth.

I'm supposed to head over mid-Feb, but I'm going to wait to book my flight.

Logic and common sense seem to dictate that this would take quite some time to implement. Without the various administrative and enforcement systems set up, it is pointless. Not only does this take time to set up, but it requires funding. Funding is a problem for many EU countries, NL included. Finally, it's the damn gov't - when have you ever seen a huge bureaucracy work quickly?

Or maybe these are the things I tell myself as I worriedly cross off the days until February.......
Possibly, but I guess common sense really should outweigh the heightened sense of worry caused by a looming trip.

They can't just 'drop it' on the tourist industry, coffeeshops in Amsterdam would be taking a huge hit as it is, there will be so much confusion if it isn't carefully planned and managed and coffeeshops will be looking for every which way to dodge around it... it would need to be very robust...which means it will be a while before it comes in.

Also, I believe the wietpass 'system' whatever form it is in will need to be trialled for a period of time to assess suitability for a more 'national' model...

My opinion...

These people are not "drug tourists", who also spend money on hotels, restaurants, etc.
They know damn well just how much tourist money they will loose if they apply this law to Amsterdam.

My bet is that we'll all be frequenting coffee shops in Amsterdam for many years to come.
I think this hits the nail on the head , the big nuisance/problem as far as the authorities and bordering countries are concerned is the fact that all these peeps are heading over stocking up then fucking off back accross the border !

The bit that gets me is why the lazy bums in Belgium and Germany don't grow their own. Its easy with autoflowering and saves a fortune. Guess students are too lazy

I was thinking about the flemish student i knew when at Uni. She used to go in a car full of guys because they thought that having a girl in the car would stop the police being suspicious of the car.

im concerned that it will be rushed thru the parliament process, therefore those who have already booked(myself included mid feb hotels and flights :-(,),we stand to lose out on our 420 type hols, but the sale of our herb will go(maybe not in shops though) on due to the nature of the business , i mean all these growers are not going to be able to either stop growing or want to as there is a calling for decent weed throughout europe it will probably push up the price of weed, but if it does get pushed through we can always move onto the check republic as i do believe the have now decriminalised weed, which in turn will bring coffeeshops there,so maybe prague instead of amsterdam?
here i am ,a friendly trucker just passing thru

OK guys, get your vote in here:

http://www.parool.nl/

There is a poll on the front page that says:

"Amsterdam must also (get) the wietpas"

Vote "Oneens" for "Disagree" (the second option).

This is a national paper, let's get those Dutch thinking that the wietpas is not wanted in Amsterdam!

Vote!

Dutch law changes and implementation are always slow. Examples:

- closure of some red light windows. Took a while but they managed to seize some properties from one of the owners and close them down

- alcohol, tobacco changes - took over a year I think from announcement to implementation. Same with shrooms. Easy to do because banning something doesn't require much investment.

- wietpas gonna require new government department, system etc. No way this is happening in less than a year. And there are no plans for it yet either.

I would happily book even for summer. No chance in hell anything will happen before then. No need to worry.
