Favorite stretch of canal?
I'll be arriving in Amsterdam for the first time two weeks from tomorrow. Just looking for people's suggestions for scenic walks/routes.

There's a stretch of Prinsengracht that's so achingly lovely of an evening that it makes your heart leap. If you stand on the bridge crossing Leidsegract on the north side of Prinsengracht facing south, looking down Leidsegracht, you can see the bright lights of Leidsestraat to your left with the occasional tram trundling by. To your right a beautiful stretch of Prinsengracht curves upwards towards the Westerkerk. The grand houses of Leidsestraat are light up in front and behind you. Directly opposite you, Cafe de Pieper is also light up and looks at it's most gezellig.
When I'm in Amsterdam, I pass by there most evenings and often hang around for 10 minutes and smoke a J whilst taking in the view, it gets me every time.
Here's a couple of daytime photos of the exact place that I mean, one taken in winter and one in spring although neither can give the full, panoramic night-time justice of the view when actually being there.
