I remember when the BBC science programs were cutting edge. Since the cuts its more like so shock horror shows from C4. I do wonder sometimes who commissions this crap.

It was a bit stupid in parts, and down right inaccurate and biased in others! The guy who had been homeless, living in a run down house getting people over to smoke weed all day and night- homeless? He had accommodation and good friends by the sound of it! There are people that weed will not suit, same as there are people that should not drink booze as it turns them into arseholes or just reacts in a bad way. Same with coffee, and almost every substance in the universe. So highlighting one guys problems as a common problem is not accurate at all. I am sure the woman holding the experiments was also the woman who did the same with howard marks on another program. She was getting the patients to do similar things such as as many words beginning with g, and the short term memory test. So all in all, nothing new except a new slant on the propaganda against weed.
And I agree, the crack addict looking bloke that was trying (and failed) to give up was smoking some nasty looking soap, a had a bong covered in horrible brown crap from the thousands of soap bongs he has poisoned himself with. He looked ill, that has to be the contaminants in the soap he was smoking? And his mrs looked like she was stoned anyway!

That's BBC3 for you, the tone sounded like a youth leader playing cool trendy older brother with the kids to get his serious message across.
Why not get this man to warn the youth-

How telling is it, that the only person the BBC could find who used cannabis and developed mental problems, had a father who committed suicide from depression.
FFS. It's been known for ages that suicidal depression runs in families. THIS IS NOT SCIENCE.
Another angle that was missed in this program is the effects prohibition on the issue. Painfully absent, IMO.
The more harmful these deceit peddlers make weed out to be, the stronger the argument to have it legalised, regulated and therefore moved away from children and those at risk.
And, (like someone mentioned previously), when is the 'How drugs work; Booze' episode?

Some of you may have seen the other 2 installments to this 'educational' series from the BBC, on Ecstasy & Cocaine. Sticking with this show, you couldn't treat it as science since, as others have pointed out, the 'experiments' demonstrated weren't conducted properly or in any kind of controlled way.
There was an attempt at a balanced argument, with a section on Sativex and its benefits to some, and a piece on teenage cannabis users who happened to be taking their exams (well done the dude with the mop top who got all A stars, hope for us all yet!) without any detrimental effects from smoking.
Overall however, this pseudo-scientific crap wouldn't have looked out of place on the Discovery Channel, although I prefer 'Deadliest Warrior'. The documentary suggested that 1 out of 10 of the population (of the UK) are susceptible to psychiatric problems brought on by cannabis use, which is clearly bullshit. Plus I thought the people on this forum were the 'herbal terrorists', not the weed itself!
This programme and for those of you who saw the other 2, was a load of bollocks. Strictlysilvers you're so right, 'Stoned in Suburbia' was much better. It's been repeated many times, but is more revealing and laced with great anecdotes from Howard Marks amongst others, the story of his whitey following the release of 'Mr Nice' for instance.

i had to turn it off (all of them!) it seemed to me that the program makers had decided the way they wanted the drug to be percieved before they had made the show <darth vader.
if find your like of science disturbing <darth vader>. Bad because its illegal is not the same as illegal because it is bad. grrrrrrr
