clubs / good night venue recomendations for amsterdam?

Post by Chubby »

Hi,

Would it be possible for anyone to recomend any good clubs or night venues in amsterdam?

Drum n Bass would be top choice but i appresheate it is not as big over there, but will happily go to good house or techno night

went to good alnighter called propa beats years ago in a school, a taxi trip out from the centrum, is that still running?
May have been 6-8 years ago! top party

Panama would be the obvious one but it depends on who is playing.
I'v heard nothing but good about the sugar factory but again it depends on the night. A friend went once and it was jazz night.
i remember seen a dubstep night being advertised in a smaller club near leidseplein sq. in june last year

I think Studio 80 has the most consistent and best music in town. Not always my music, but when it is, I like it there. Not fancy and at, no door attitude, top sound system.

Def. going to be a more wild place, gets crazy later on. Full or party people for the most part, not heavy on lots of single girls if your group is looking.

Yes, I looked at who is playing. Don't know them but Friday looks quite local, mostly house. Personally, I think seeing local DJs is the best when visiting another town.

Saturday seems more Berlin sound, more of the techno side of house.

Either night could be lots of fun. Sorry I can't be more helpful on the D 'n B scene here, its not really my thing. My impression, however, is that its much smaller than the house and techno scene.

Feel free to ask any other questions. I have not been to the Sugar Factory or Panama. One thing to note, Studio 80 is not posh. It is quite spartan inside, but at that place it is all about the music.

Club Home is also nice, but I hesitate to recommend it as I really have no idea who plays there on the regular. I saw Dennis Ferrer there during the Amsterdam Dance Event. The place is NICE inside, but I have a bad feeling that on regular nights, the poshness takes over and it may be a bit of a bore. But its got a killer sound system.

Will update on where I end up once back (and recovered!)

I went to Trouw recently for the first time and did not really like it. The place is huge, one could park a few jetliners in there (it was the newspaper printing plant for the newspaper Trouw).

Plus, it is quite far from the center.
