Greetings!

Post by Grimble »

Hey everyone!

I found the forum after Google landed me on the coffe shop map - it's super impressive!

Myself and a couple of friends have decided to hit Amsterdam this February/March for the first time! Unfortunately, one has already pulled out and the other is showing the classic signs of not wanting to commit to booking! I'm pretty narked at this as I'm really excited about going, especially after reading some of the posts and comments about the coffee shops.

I'm pondering just going at it alone, but I'm a little apprehensive - I can't even sit in McDonald's alone without feeling like a spare one at a wedding! Also, others have said that it wouldn't be safe. From what I've read so far though, as long as I'm not stupid about where I'm going and when, it would be fine.

I would be really interested to hear people's comments, particularly from those who went solo (like how they filled their days).

Apologies if this has already been covered before

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Yes, this topic has been covered, just give it a search! I would link the pages in but I'm on my phone atm :-(
I have been to Amsterdam many times (as hav most members!!), both with friends and solo. My last two trips have been, and my next one is going to be, solo. Don't get me wrong, going around Amsterdam with a few good friends who enjoy a smoke is awesome - until someone gets too stoned, or tired and can't be bothered walking around any more. That is when the group starts separating etc. When you are on your own however, you do what you want when you want....it's your trip!
Also I would like to point out that whilst you are a member of this fantastic forum, you will never be alone in the dam. There are always people out there up for a toke and talk, just start a thread in the travel plans before section. I am plannin on going out during the second week in march with some friends if you're around then.
When solo I go to what coffeeshops I want, when I want to. I eat when I want, I sleep when I want etc. Both have positives and negatives

I reckon I'm going to book to go out on 6th March - a fellow stoner from work has shown some interest about coming along so if that comes to be, then brilliant! However, regardless of who decides to go, I'm hitting it - solo if need be! 8)

I would def be up for a toke and talk, mlester - once I book, I'll post in the travel pans!

I would agree that it's a big pro that being solo means you can basically do what you want - to be honest, I would perhaps feel a little self concious at first - although once I sat back and blazed, there would be balance in the force once again!

Crapulinski, that's def a bonus with the twin bro - especially if he likes a smoke! The dude from work is one the same stoner-wavelength as myself so I reckon I'd have a better time with him. I suspect my other reluctant friend would end up refusing passes as it's all gotten a bit much for him - he claims a pro, but I have my doubts!

Thanks for the welcome :)
