I have been thinking about what if my country decided to legalize medical marijuana and i havent been able to make a decision on whether as it is a true medicine and helps a lot of people that should be taken serious and i think to myself it is wrong to get prescribed it if not necessary then the other side of my brain says hey fuck that need more weed.
i know its an odd one as firstly i probably couldnt pull it off and secondly not happen here for years but thought it would be a good thread

I thought the Uk government have a few times over the years mentioned (or info about it leaked out) about having tried to carry out testing on cannabis and it's medicinal propaties etc?. The last time I recalled anything for sure was several years ago I think where there was trials to cut the THC out of the plant (or reduce it to as low as scientifically possable) to make it more "politically" acceptable as a form of medication?.

Dont know what the outcome was but very certain the government has done testing on the plant so there is certainly something they want out of the plant for medical purposes.

The uk is in an odd situation at the moment. there are many high up officials and stars speaking in favour of cannbis being legalised but unfortunatly none of the parties have the guts to take the first step just in case they fall

I know it's far from legal bud, but Sativex is now a legal prescription drug in the UK now, I know several MS sufferers that have successfully obtained it through their doctors.
I'm also hearing rumours that the Californian Prop19 is being looked at as a potential framework for future use, but I have no way to verify this.

Attitudes are slowly changing here, it's only a matter of time I think - failing that, I'm moving!

It may be "legal" & i'm glad your friends got it ok , but Sativex can help alot more ailments than MS & we tried to get it for my wife & our doctor asked ME for info on it as their surgery had been told sod all about it I gave him more than a few details & print outs about it , to be told that Herts NHS was NOT prescribing it to anyone

Apologies, I didn't clarify it in full - yes, this is unfortunately the case ATM, some PCTs won't touch it for fear of losing government funding and the level of knowledge amongst GPs is shocking at best, so it's still a long way from ideal.

Funding for it is dam near impossible far as I know but research i've read ( will try to find the link) says tests have been done into more , help for cancer,ms,me,arthritis,rhematism, depression , eating disorders & prob more that i've forgot , all the things that basically us "criminals" know it CAN already help , my worry is & always has been the amount of damage the pills she has to take are doing her , along with saving £'s it was the other factor in me growing our own.
Last/1st grow , the Red Cherry Berry enabled her to cut down her morphine by atleast 30mg each day she had the smoke ,only lasted a month but all good

i think moving is gonna have to be on the agenda for anyone wanting to medicate with marijuana opr to just not be classed as a criminal because you smoke it. It is unbelieveably easy to get an prescription in the US if they did legalize it here you know they would make it as easy as crawling through spicy jelly to get one.
Just wish someone at the top grew a pair and stood by it, Cameron was discussing it before he started runniong for pm now hes just ignoring it

Sadly, i don't forsee the political forces shifting toward relaxtion of the law around cannabis; medical or otherwise. The tories are more likely to bring back the death penalty than legalise weed (see this thread). The liberals are likely finished as far as the polls are concerned and Labour's history in this area seems to be based reactively; driven by the wankers in the press.

@ftcarer i'd like to have a look at the sativex link if you've found it, if the efficacy of cannabis devirved medicines are proven for an increasing variety of illnesses then hopefully good sense and a tidy profit for the drugs companies should prevail.

Cheers for those. From the info available it certainly seems like there is enough of a positive trend to warrant further study.
