You guys are great. I have not visited the forum since Sunday and when I have a look today it's all sorted.... :D :D :)
April 22nd, three hour tour (insert theme from Gilligans Island here) starting at 1400 hrs (2:00 pm) in the 6 person boats rented a Boaty.nl....Yes?
There, sorted and done....that was easy.... :?   8) These boats are around 15e p/p for the three hours... should be doable for most.
Check the canal walls (google streetview might be useful here) for landing spots as some of the cs we are looking at visiting might not be easy to disembark at.
If I don't see you no more in this world, I'll meet you on the next one.

Are you sure you ment to say the 22nd there mate?. I've just had a look at the 420 attendee list at looks like at least 5 of us leave on the 22nd (times unknown) and about another 5 that leave on the 21st (times unknown). I dont have any real problem with the 22nd even though that my departure date (as long as I'm at the airport by 8pm lol). But wandering if the proposed timing on the 22nd might cut out the boat trip option for some with some who go home the 21st?. Just a thought.

I do agree with you 100% on that as most would of cause as it would certainly be more confty on a much bigger boat. But I think the problem is that unless anyone on here knows of a friend who runs there own boat or something that would be willing to let us smoke (with the possability of a cs break) then I feel we have next to no chance on anything other than the small boats. I had a quick look on google last week and cant seem to find any 1 man firm setup that might be accomodating to our idea of a boat trip.

Then again there is still a good 83 days or so before the planned boat trip. Think the little boat idea is probably the best idea\option unless anyone comes up with a better alternative between now and then?.

There is another concern with the self-piloted boats and that is, getting lost. An area which you may well know at street level might look completely different from canal level through a weed/hash/beer/wine fog..... :? :? :? 8)

Well someone must own a sat-nav with european mapping? lol. But if it really does come down to it I'd sooner do the little boats than not go on a boat trip at all. There is always this place, The St. Nicolaas Boat Club http://amsterdamboatclub.com/index.html. But you cant book or pre contact them. Simply turn up on the day but only an hour\90 mins of sailing. 90 mins would be fine with me (longer better of cause) but I guess some would want longer.

Yeah, thought I recall something just could'nt find the post. But according to there website they have only closed for the winter (like many boat firms do?) and re-open march 11. There is a post\comment in the FAQ section dated november 10 saying so.

we will def. not get lost!
if we make a map it's not hard imo even if we are stoned like hell. form my pov I'm working even better when I have the right level  OK form the water everything might look different as from the streets but that's to handle. I can tell you the route I suggested out of my brain, and I didn't study the route (straight to Amstel, turn left, past Amstel Sluizen, Magere Brug, turn in Heerengracht (blauwe brug ahead) take the second right, the next left, straigt till Brouwers Gracht is on the left. turn in Brouwers Gracht, take the second left (Prinzen Gracht) and the first right, then next left again. if we visit Paradox we have to take take the next right. if not straight till Spiegel Gracht, left to turn in Spiegel Gracht, next left, next right, right/straight along Ruysdaelkade till Apolo Hotel, then turn right back to boaty). no problem! backup will be gps navigation (available) but that's def. not needed!

everyone will come home save and relaxed!
but you will receive a very special impression of Amsterdam. 8)

but the route (any route must not be my suggestion) has to be confirmed in advance, because changes during the trip will cause to much confusion. stops have to be planed in advance too, during the trip changes are to confusing. one or two stops (toilet breaks + coffeeshop visits (buy and fly)) are enough imo.

What do you think???

  I never thought of using SatNav..
As to the route, I would have to leave that in more capable hands than my own. I have only visisted A'Dam once and spent most of my time either lost or in the act of getting lost.. might have been due to my one eyed navigation technique.
Any thoughts on trying to herd 15-20 freaks all the way down to the Boaty docks?

I thought I heard St Nic had closed but I'd be very happy to be wrong. They were perfect for smoker's cruises.

Getting lost is a point I hadn't thought of. Now you mention it, I remember when Ohm Sweet Ohm took us on his little boat, everything looks very different from water level. You can be passing a whole series of canals joining the one you're on through identical looking bridges. Finding our way back to Boaty Boat's HQ could be interesting.

I also wonder about the idea of stopping at coffeeshops along the way. We'd need to find some way of securing the boats so that they were there when we got back.

the coffeeshop stop should be a buy and fly stop imo, just to go to the toilet and to get more stuff if needed.if we stop at amnesia or at brouwers gracht (siberie, doors + rokerij) for example one person can stay in the boat (likely one that doesn't need to go to the toilet) while the others are using the shops toilet. boys could also use the public pissoires, girls can use them too btw! we can smoke, drink and eat all on the boat. :) :)

to get out to boaty is max 15-20min to walk from the albert cuyp tram stop. nice walk in the morning or at noon as you face south (the warm sun shines straight in your face) 8) and on the way back we go to de graal, as this shop can host a larger group and its quality and atmosphere are worth a visit. only if we choose boaty of course

make your suggestions we need input to discuss
