These boats are electric aren't they. I was checking out some boat rental sites and checking reviews a common complain was the limited battery life. The boats would run poorly in less than an hour and a half and had to be docked far from the return site which ended in the people paying more. Let's hope these boats have good batteries.

Well in case of power faliure i'd guess you'd get some emergency sticks to go by hand if need be?. But if we do the 3 hour rental, well they do 4 hour rental so I cant see the power lasting less than 4 hours before total faliure.

Just a thought on the weather situation. http://www.rentaboatamsterdam.com/class ... at-ondine/
Smoking is ok on the rear deck as it's open and covered.

Sounds like a fun time, Trad - kudos on the organizing. I'm going boating with local friends but don't have the dates set for that yet... put me down as a maybe, please? I'd like to go if it works out even though my closest local friend says it's a rip off, I think she meant the actual cruises that charge out the (_[_)... also she was born and raised there. Understandable.

Hi Yogi,
I had a look at that boat some time ago and passed on it for these reasons:-
The rear deck is rather small so smoking would have to be done in shifts....might be tough to get some of us to change places...
The cost is the most prohibitive factor...(at 229e per hour for 3 hours = 687e) This boat would be around 35e pp...more than twice the Boaty rate at the present number of crew. Yeah, I realize as the crew increases the cost go down. If we get a full crew (30, which is the majority of the people attending 420) it is still more than Boaty and there is no way in hell that I'm putting that kind of expence on my card.

Hi HB,
Thanks for the offer, we are already a crew of 19 or 20 so space for all of us would be a bit of a press...if all show. If I could get a bit more info though we might be able to work out a solution. Could you give me an idea of the cost/location and maybe a picture or two.
I'll be dropping into your shop at about 0800hrs. on April 2nd. Looking forward to it.

Hi Islandgurl,
Thanks for the kind words. You are on the 'Possible' list....the first on said list actually.
Shaping up nicely.... :D :) 8)

What if HB could do the big boat in say 2, 2 hour sessions?. I guess it depends on where his boat is docked?.

But 2 2 hours sessions would not take to much more time than travelling all the way to the boaty boats and back for a 3 hour session. Also a factor is the cost. Anyone have any close\quick contact with HB to enquire on price and location etc?.

Dont get me wrong as the way I see things is that we are doing the boaty boats untill either a deposit is payed to them (pending those deposit conditions) or an alternative is found. As once the deposit is payed to boaty (early april?) then we are commited to them.

not the best pics, the blue bit on the back comes off and theres seating for 5 people there then more seating in the cabin its also poss to sit on the deck, its not docked anywhere just parked wherever i leave it
i think if you wanted the big one it would be best if i find one the boys to drive it for you,it could get very tricky to navigate unless you have a driver who has experience of the canals i rekon i could find sombody and we could work out an agreed donation per person or summit

the smaller one is avalible for queensday if anybodys intrested

also becarfull if you get a boat big enuff for 20 peeps it could limit the canals that the boat can fit down unless its a canalbus style thing, or have to stay on the amstel the ij and the bigger canals

Okie dokie looking at the timing of the boat trip I shall have to be counted out, it could leave me pretty tight for getting to the airport :( really thinking I should have booked for longer, but you live and learn...

Total:- 19/20

Let me know if anyone has been missed or if you wish to be added.

I haven't logged on for a few days and I see more info. and a couple of pictures from HB came in. Cool looking boat and as Azlaker said 'nice to have the option'.
From what I gather, the starting point for HB's boat can be just about anywhere....bonus for us not having to travel waaaaay down to Boaty, we just all meet someplace like Voyagers. The freedom to go where ever we want that we have with HB is another bonus...not to mention that, not one other rental establishment has offered on-board volcano's...BONUS. HB has also offered to supply a pilot for his boat and a very accommodating payment plan...bonus. On-board sound system...bonus. An all round good deal for us as I see it.
I also see a couple of potential minor drawbacks. If we split into two groups, the half that turns up and has to now wait 2-3 hours for their turn are likely to forget when/where to meet and miss out on a great time. And who wants to miss out on this? I personally like the idea of a flotilla of little boats, packed to the gunwales with stoners, puttering through the smaller canals. My other concern is that, from looking at the pictures and having been on a few boats, the visibility when below is often quite restricted...this can also be considered a bonus when using the above mentioned volcano...

To bad the timing is wrong for you Rufus, as you said, you should stay for a little longer. Maybe I can send you a box of pictures via the RM....couldn't resist it...sorry.... :( :(  8)
