Somewhere new??
Somewhere new??
Can't be arsed with Amsterdam, been to Haarlem many times, never stopped in Utecht or Den Haag or Rotterdam or anywhere else really and I think it's time to go somewhere new, any ideas? I'm obviously looking for somewhere with a decent coffeeshop scene but I need somewhere for the good lady as well as she doesn't smoke so somewhere picturesque for romantic walk and the like, I'd prefer somewhere nearish to Schiphol as well, cheers in advance.

Hi Boner
Have you ever been down by Wassenaar, it has an amazing beach and is quite close to Lieden which has some great coffeeshops but dont open untill 4pm.
Keycamp / Eurocamp have some great holiday homes at a reasonable price but i find the super tents are alot cheaper, I love the place and it has great cycling routes if your into that thing

Rotterdam is okay, there was nothing that stood out though when I was there, just another city
Delft is a really pretty wee place, but I wouldn't say it's full of coffeeshops...

Stopped at Duinrell before (Wassenaar) and I've stopped at Delft before (forgot about both
) I've stopped in Maarken and Volendam as well.

Re: Somewhere new??
I just booked nights in Deventer and Leeuwarden in March. I'll let you know what we find. The owner of the b&b in Leeuwarden has been more than hospitable.
Cheers,

No coffeeshops but Brugge is a very romantic spot. You could always stock up on gear in the Dam first....

Re: Somewhere new??
it's a train ride away from schipol, but i would like to suggest the eindhoven, tilburg, den bosch area where spidergawd and i went last october to see cisco's models being displayed at a show in eindhovenBoner wrote:Can't be arsed with Amsterdam, been to Haarlem many times, never stopped in Utecht or Den Haag or Rotterdam or anywhere else really and I think it's time to go somewhere new, any ideas? the smoke scene was great and there were lots of different things to do and see ... a refreshing alternative to amsterdam but still the netherlands and still stoned
Re: Somewhere new??
SS67, I was looking at Eindhoven/Den Bosch, do you think we'd be better off stopping at Eindhoven and day tripping to Den Bosch or the other way around, I must admit I like the quirkiness of Den Bosch (from the pics I've seen).

Re: Somewhere new??
when i was reviewing in my head my trip in october with spidergawd i was thinking i would like to stay in den bosch and have a day's explore (after visiting the speak easy coffeeshop for their super silver haze) of the town ... namely the hieronymus bosch centre and Saint John's CathedralBoner wrote:SS67, I was looking at Eindhoven/Den Bosch, do you think we'd be better off stopping at Eindhoven and day tripping to Den Bosch or the other way around, I must admit I like the quirkiness of Den Bosch (from the pics I've seen).
then with excursions on the train to tilburg for a coffeeshop crawl and maybe the same also to eindhoven ... that would make for a nice few days imho
Re: Somewhere new??

Hi Boner
How things man?
Not sure if this is an option but have you thought about Prague for a change, it has a busy smoke scene and a very picturesque city indeed.

Re: Somewhere new??
My suggestion would be Assen. it's far from amsterdam but it'ss quite pitoresque and it's near to a huge park to have some walks or soBoner wrote:Can't be arsed with Amsterdam, been to Haarlem many times, never stopped in Utecht or Den Haag or Rotterdam or anywhere else really and I think it's time to go somewhere new, any ideas? Here's a link to a guide to Den Bosch (s'Hertogenbosch). Might tempt you

Parking is also good there if you drive.
