A weekend, a week, a month? Try a Year.

Post by jBomb »

I'm moving to A'dam on 8/28 until at least the end of June for grad school. Living in NYC now, and it's cool, but can't wait to get there. Already know where I'm staying (near IJ Tunnel, Prins Hendrikkade) and the best coffeeshops in the city (and other towns), if anyone, tourist or local, feels like joining me in enjoying the shops and the rest of this amazing city, lemme know.

One question - Are there any coffeeshops, in A'dam or elsewhere, that are open later than 1am during the week?

PS - This is the most evil emoticon I could find -

No, The University of Amsterdam has programs in English. It's mostly independent study, which means I'll have plenty of time to hit the coffeeshops and travel some too. I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah we do, I've never been to an ACD meetup. That'd be cool. I already have a hit list - check it out:

Willie Nelson - Barneys
Jelly Hash/Crystal Clear - Bushdocter, Katsu
Arjan's UH #2 - Greenhouse
Ice-o-lator, Temple Balls - Stix, Tertulia
Pot of Gold - Amnesia, Nes
Barney Rubble - Barneys

And I'm hoping to get some more Great White Shark at GreenHouse, which I think is the best kept secret in the Dam. Well... until now, I guess.

Of course I got to hit the NES and sign the book. Also, though I've been to a lot of shops, I still need to check out:

Spirit
La Tertulia
Tweede Kamer
New Chocolata - (Heard Abraxas bought it)
De Kuil-Cafe 420
Anyday
Paradox
Basjoe
Stix
Bushdocter
Old Amsterdam

Any comments or recommendations? I can't wait, less than six weeks!

Count me in on the meet at 420, unless I have class or something. When is that going down?

If you want a 'bar' style coffeeshop (better atmosphere in the evening)
I would recommend De Dampkring' - just to see the size of the menu.
and also 'Hunters Bar' has a huge bar and a lot of drinks on offer
both are cool places,
best of luck with your studies, its gonna be awesome!
