My first trip to Amsterdam, 43 CS to do in 5 days, any tips?

Post by Loftmonkey »

Hi all,

I'm off to Amsterdam for my first time, 23rd-28th March (only 43 more sleeps :D )
I'm going with a mate, we shall call him D  , this will be his 3rd trip. We have done loads of reading, making notes etc... a lot of the info has come from you guys and this site. We have printed oput a copy of the map and marked out our destinations.

What I would like to know is...
Do we do all 43 CS on our list in the first couple of days, pick our faves and spend the rest of the trip in those? Or, if we do find a couple we fall in love with (in first couple of days), sack the rest of the list off and stick to those?

Also, as I'm like a kid in a candy shop now, and there's 43 more sleeps yet, is it best just to buy in 1gms, find the ones ya like then buy in bulk?
I know these may seem stupid/daft questions, but I just want to make the best of our time there. I want to get my mate melted to a couch as he hasn't been baked over there as of yet

Thanks for the tips in advance

i love coffeeshop crawls i always make great plans. smoking will mess it up though.buy & flys would be your best bet, dont make plans for a toke & talk half way through the day.after a few hours of not smoking and buying a shed load, your mate might throw a hissy fit.but for me i prefer siting in one of my fav coffeeshops with way to much to smoke rather than stopping at each coffeeshop (spending a small fortune on drinks)..

Think Stu has a great idea in hoarding from many and then sitting in just 1 coffeeshop (or 2). As going to say 10 cs's and a drink in each, well thats a good 2 buys of something else if left till you have done 10 visits on a buy & fly basis.

Might give that thought a go myself in april :)

Hey Stu,

Do you have My Maps links to these maps so that we can have the shop name/info as well. Easier to import also.

If not, no biggie.

cheers,
chuck

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the March Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
Or post one of your own. All I need is a date, time, and coffeeshop to post it.

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/profi ... le&u=48851

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

First timers get my S G Collins recommendation
I think a read of this will maximize your efficiency once you get there.

How not to get hit by a bike and other stuff they forgot to tell you about Amsterdam.

Enjoy

In my experience, it would be difficult to hit such a high number of shops in 5 days, unless you simply did buy-and-flies and rushed from one shop to the next.

Once you get there, you'll probably realize that it is much more fun to simply chill out at shops that you find welcoming, and enjoy the atmosphere and gear.

As far as bulk purchases, I haven't really taken advantage of those specials - there's always too much on my last day anyway.

Anything you don't get to check out will be there for your second trip!

Cheers for the tips marra, very much appreciated
