I.D Question

Hello again!
I am travelling to Amsterdam on March 1st for my 1st Amsterdam journey, I am of the legal age to buy all the luxuries Amsterdam has to offer however my girlfriend who is going with me is not (she turns 18th on March 8th) she isn't really a smoker but I assume she will be sharing a joint or two with me, i'll be the one doing the buying of said product however. So my question is if i'm at the counter buying bud if the budtender asks to see some identification would she have to show some too, even if she wasn't buying?
Cheers! x

Most people here would tell you to not risk it as the shops license is in jepody if there was a police check. Take an honest look at your gf and ask whether she looks 20? If she doesnt then dont risk it as it could get embarrassing for the both of you

I feel you man, even though its been ages since I was 18. We all did what we could to get what we wanted at that age (alcohol in the US for example).

However, here is NL we have a special system that allows us to smoke, and its under attack by the government and the European Union. One of those attacks is that they think cannabis is being made available to those under 18.

If you sneak her in the shop and the budtender does not see you, you are risking their license to operate. The shop can get shut down and we can't afford to lose anymore.

I hate to make a suggestion to get around these rules, but we were all 18 once :D You can certainly buy your weed (do not take her in the shop) and then go to one of the many bars that are smoker-friendly. Now if she drinks in one of those bars, she is also risking their license. However, if she just smokes, I find it unlikely that it would be a problem. Just don't tell anyone where you got the weed if she is asked.

I am going to ask DC is this is a massively bad idea and will remove if it is.

peace

How exactly? a 16 year old is allowed to drink beer in Holland.

Thanks Boner. I guess I do not hang with enough 16 (or 18) year old girls :D

If she "isn't really a smoker", then why bother. She can drink wine and beer legally in a bar, is that not enough?....if it isn't then go to the park where the only people you can get into trouble is yerselves. As it happens, I try to enforce an over 18 door policy in 't Nes because we allow weed smoking ......and topics like this.

My guess is that 99% of the people that ask this question and get told "DON'T DO IT" will attempt to do it anyway.

Don't fucking do it. Leave her outside, go buy some weed, and smoke it in the park, or even in the streets. But do NOT bring her in the coffeeshops, you take a chance at ruining it for everyone.

It's really not worth it, if you look young yr gonna get asked for id in every cs you go in, if she really wants a smoke go to one of the many parks and blaze away.
Just out of interest why didn't you go a few weeks later when this wouldn't have been an issue? just curious/nosy

Welll this has all been a mighty kick in the balls...I didn't wait till she turned 18 because I was under the impression that you only needed to be 18 to buy the goods not just enter a coffeeshop, oh well. Smoker friendly bars it is....suggestions?

First off, thanks for not saying "fuck you we'll risk it anyway" as thats the normal response, theres a comprehensive list here: https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5605 but like DC mentioned some places may have an over 18 policy because they allow weed to be smoked, be prepared to head to somewhere like Vondelpark, finally - have a great trip.
