preparing for 3 day trip starting friday 11th feb...

Post by Hazey Memories »

how do,
been lurking with intent the past month or so but now it's time to make it official!

i've enjoyed two trips to amsterdam before, both just over 8 years ago. i never considered myself to be a complete amateur until i found this forum and realised i was exactly that!
so thanks to the forum regulars who spread their excellent knowledge for the benefit of others. i know i have certainly benefited lots from reading the forum and will enjoy my upcoming trip substantially more than i might have done if without the knowledge of this forum. so just wanted to say i'm extremely thankful for that!

so my upcoming trip is with my girlfriend. we're sailing from newcastle on thursday evening, staying friday and saturday night in the city before sailing back sunday night.
my girlfriend would like to see anne frank's, so we're getting that out of the way first thing on friday, assuming it will be a more quiet time than over the weekend.
then it's solid coffee shopping and eating, with a splash of drinking and partying thrown in for good measure, whilst taking in all the tremendous sights and sounds this beautiful city has to offer.
have just about got all our venues planned, although i'm sure the chances of us actually keeping to the plan is fairly small.
i'm adamant we're hitting burger bar and eating in 420 at some point..also going to hit a night club, too.

my main issue is with not knowing if the zoo will be worth a visit?
i've read a few comments saying it may not be worth it and i really wondered if anyone who has first hand knowledge of the place has any thoughts? if not, then any other ideas on how to kill a few hours that might be cheap and entertaining? excluding the sex museum and walking around the city, as they're both already dead certainties on the list of stuff to do!
cheers folks, it's nice to be here! 8)

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the February Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
Or post one of your own. All I need is a date, time, and coffeeshop to post it.

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/profi ... le&u=56715

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Enjoy

thanks for the comments guys!

i know the sex museum is a bit of a joke as i've been before, but we're just looking at it as something a bit silly to do after our first chocoloupe smoke!

friday night we plan to eat at the sea palace floating chinese as this is somewhere i have been before and was a big fan. from the comments i've seen it still seems to be good, if only a little bit on the expensive side. any other comments on cool restaurants to eat would be certainly welcome. neither of us are particularly fussy so i'm all ears for any recommendations you may have. after the meal we plan to wander around and find some bars. i'm not sure where is going to be best, but somewhere that is smoker friendly would obviously be cool and good music is desirable, too.

saturday night i've planned to go to the melkweg night club. after much consideration i decided this would probably be the most fun for both of us as there is an 80's / 90's music policy which is great for my girlfriend and suits me just fine, too.

i will certainly report back on my trip and try my best to give a review of the different products we have sampled in the hope that i can give a teeny tiny bit back to the forum!
