Yeah Baba was playing permanently loud music the last time I was in the dam, as was Route 66 so best to avoid that too. I also remember leaving Hunters as the music was doing my head in there.

I enjoyed The Doors coffeeshop though, not loud really and I thought it had a pretty nice atmosphere. I remember blazing a few joints of Chocolope that'd I'd brought from Hunters there when my mates had gone off for some culture, ahh good times :D

Really felt comfortable in 4:20 cafe (de kuil) in March 2010 and Feb 2009. Can't beat Zappa with vapo bags and Max the cat. That is my idea of heaven/nirvana! And you can bring in your own food and play backgammon. The only problem we had was remembering who's turn it was!
Basjoe and James is pretty chill, especially the outside seats!

BtW, I'll be 51 in April (gasp!)
Could we ever feel much finer?

3 Barney's in Haarlemmer straat.
When coming from Centraal station, on the right you have Barney's farm then Barney's coffeeshop and then, on the left, Barney's uptown.
For breakfast and a puff, it's Barney's uptown.

You have another coffeeshop to the south, Barney's lounge.

4:20 (de Kuil) seems to be the coffeeshop of choice for the older smoker. Whereas most coffeeshops in Centrum seem to have a mixture of customers, every time I've been to 4:20 in the last seventeen years it's seemed to have mainly been frequented by a 40+ year old smokers. I think the classic rock soundtrack, whilst not my personal cup of tea, has a lot to do with that.

Paradox is still my favorite quiet coffee shop. I buy a token amount of weed and hash there when I first arrive in Adam and then I buy better stuff at Grey Area and Dampkring and take it back to Paradox where I can sit down in peace and quiet and enjoy my buzz. I just make sure that I give the server a good tip when I leave.
