Unfortunately, Amsterdam is VERY expensive, especially when it comes to house rentals.
Me and my wife both work through Internet, as much as you do, and were planning a full month stay for this summer. After a long research we had to admit it was impossible. Well, actually it IS possible but only if you're ready to pay crazy money for house rental.
The hottest deal we found was €1400 per month in a terrible place way far from where we'd like to stay (Western Main Channels/Jordaan).
In the end we booked our usual week (this time in a houseboat :D ) for July... So no work with us: only the intention to smoke the entire Grey Area menu again (and much more). 8)

I found some apartments for 800-1000euro per month- for a couple - in Amsterdam.

I am planning a move to A'dam also, indefinite though. The problem you will find with the cheaper apartment rentals is that their is usually a minimum rental period of at least 6 months. Not to mention having to pay first and last months rent along with a hefty finders fee to the agent. You'll probably end paying somewhere closer to 1200E for a short term rental, it's the cheapest I have found.

Peace,

True.
My researches showed the same results.
Too much money for a single month stay, beside the fact that in the same month I'd have to pay the rental for my home here.

Been looking for a while..

http://www.pararius.com/english/clientH ... 1=1&lvl2=1

http://perfecthousing.nl/

http://www.xpatrentals.com/

These sites are the best, verified! I've contacted agents via these sites and have been shown apartments by appointment but remember that it's standard to pay One Month's rent + One month's security deposit + equal to one month's rent to the agent as his fee. So all in all plan on coming up with 3x the monthly price when you sign the docs. I don't know about for shorter term leases but you may have the agent's fees waived.. Like Balou was saying 1200e is the entry price to get within the ring...

Good Luck, Haarlem is a wonderful choice as stated by a previous poster!
