Wow. Just seeing this thread for the first time. I'd love to hear how things went for you ZNatty. I hate to pile on, but you're approaching everything Amsterdam stands for by going about your journey this way. It sounds as if Portugal may be a better option for your vacations.

I'd like to blame it on youth but I first came to the Dam at a mere 20 years old back in 2002 and had nothing but utmost respect for this place. Feels like its the same for most everyone else who posts on here.

This is simply not the place for seeking or doing hard drugs, nor is it a good place to do any over the top mooching or corner cutting on getting goods. Street dealers will either rip you off, rob you, give you bad shit, harm you physically, or some combo of those. It's just not worth it. And as mentioned before, why go to a place with hundreds of different options and lock into one?

Here's my advice for anyone in this situation...
1. Just ditch the hard drug idea. Gone. Mushrooms are one thing (and watch yourself even with those), but anything more than what is available in shops is illegal, looked down upon, and just plain stupid for this place. The last thing any stoner, locals, or really anyone wants to deal with is someone who acts out and can't control themselves.
2. You can be wise about $ in AMS, but you have to be out and about to truly enjoy it. While most people on this thread do things "the right way", you can try to cut costs by just being a little smart and doing some research.
- Check out menus online to find the cheapest strands of what you want
- check out bar specials and find cheap drinks, hell..bring a flask with you if times are that tough
- same with food
- in trying more strands - be social with other CS'ers and offer some of your bud and they'll likely let you try some of theirs, just don't outright mooch, buy the 10Euro bags of more expensive stuff instead of a full G, look for a solid 5g deal for mass quantities
