Done a run last night , still can't get the jelly shatter goodness !!! Must have something to do with the boil off temp ? I tore the filter while squeezing so there's a few wee bits of veg matter in the final product , nothing I'm too worried about

So,I've always fancied trying this QWISO method of making Hash, and a good friendof mine recently grew some Mazar autofem and gave me some Sugar leaf cuttings ,10 gm of which i mixed with 10 gm of small Mazar bud...
and the result was this

...
Thick Honey type structure and slathered on a late night spliff a la Spoon -{ not that i'm comparing this to anywhere like that quality),it sure does wipe me out.Not bad for first attempt ,i guess.I look forward to doing more
A huge thanks to Nizzle for your wonderfully clear and concise instructions...if we ever meet in The Dam,the first bags on me

The first and only time I've had any experience with QWISO was with some that Bleak had made a couple of years ago. Damn, that long ago?
IIRC, there are some pics of the gear I speak of in his photo thread.
I've made BHO, good quality gear although minor league when compared to the likes of Spoon and others... Now I'm going to give QWISO a shot. If I have enough trim, I will also make BHO.
I have all the necessary equipment; dry trim that's been in the freezer for more than two weeks; and 250mL of 90% Alcohol USP (not Isopropyl). The delay is having to wait for recently harvested bud to cure before using. I want to reduce the amount of chlorophyll as much as possible.
When I make the QWISO (and BHO), I will post the results in my Rokerij Amnesia Haze grow report.
Thanks to all who've shared their thoughts, ideas, and experiences with making QWISO. If not for you, I wouldn't be having this much fun enjoying life. THANK YOU.
Happy trails...

would it be better to make this using grain alcohol (everclear) instead of isopropyl?
I have made tinctures using everclear and it is a good way to use up the lower grade stuff and trim. A couple of eye droppers in a beer or orange juice or even ginger ale is nice.

My (not so baseless) opinion, using grain alcohol is safer given that it can be ingested whereas Isopropyl has toxic chemicals purposely added and is not for internal use.
Those with experience may or may not agree, or they just might not give a shitte...

The only thing in isopropyl alcohol besides isopropyl alcohol (unless stated on the label) is water. Unless labelling laws are different on your side of the pond. The 91% Isopropyl I buy is 91% isopropyl alcohol and 9% water.
Rubbing alcohol (ethanol alcohol) is another story, and has additives added to keep people from drinking it, and is most likely where the confusion lies.

Yup, I made a "minor" mistake.
The comment about "not so baseless opinion" - I was an Army Medic and worked in emergency rooms and have seen up close what happens when this shit is accidentally ingested by a child, splashed in eyes, and an attempted suicide.
I invite all to read the following, maybe some will change their minds about using isopropyl alcohol.
http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/healthguidelin ... ition.html
http://fscimage.fishersci.com/msds/89530.htm
Given a choice of grain alcohol or similar versus isopropyl or similar, I would, and did, choose grain.
Another reason to use grain alcohol - pour the remaining liquid (after one more filtering) into a Watermelon and let it sit for a while.
Cut into slices and serve... For an added bonus, pour any runoff into glasses filled with ice and juice, serve...
Happy hashing...

the iso alcohol that you get to clean electronics is 98% pure if not more. Mine i can get is 99.3% rest water. What does everyone reckon would happen if you added one drop of real vanilla? as it is alcohol would you be left with vanilla qwiso?
