Illegal or legal..? need help!
Illegal or legal..? need help!
Hello guys,
I just have a short question to you and maybe you can help me.
- When i would sell a map of coffeeshops of Amsterdam City without saying any words of drugs - just
to say where you can find "coffeeshops" with adress - is it legal or illigal?
I am glad if you can help me.
Sincerely,
Sarah

The coffeeshops are registered businesses AFAIK, they also appear on google maps so i can't see any reason that it'd be illegal to make a map with them on.....
however https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/Map.html this excellent piece of work has already fufilled your brief (unless you are doing a map for the whole of the Netherlands?)

Cheers for that...so to recap; there would be no problem, legally speaking, in trying to sell a Coffeeshop map. There would be a problem as folks have done it for free already

thanks guys for the fast answers!
i read that the coffeeshops have the " AHOJG" conditions, in which is told that the coffeeshops are not allowed to do any
advertising.
But you are right, i think in the internet are many informations of coffeeshops, so this would be illegal, too, and i cant imagine
something like that. Above all, in the windows of coffeeshops is always written that this is a coffeeshop! wouldn't this be advertising, too?
If you hear something else please tell me, this would be very helpful to me

contact the cannabis college they are a wealth of free information. not just on growing but on laws and restrictions too http://www.cannabiscollege.com/
advertising of coffeeshops is banned in holland. however i do own various coffeeshop maps which i picked up for free within the the shops themselves, so they do already exist.
also, the 'smokers guide' is a book which is full of coffeeshop adverts and maps etc. this hand book is sold all over amsterdam. maybe contact smokers guide and see if they are willing to share with you how restrictive they find the laws etc. etc.
good luck

Depends where you are selling it perhaps. Anything outside NL, what can they do about it? Nothing.
Inside NL, well I've seen free maps on the back of magazines and stuff. A map of legal enterprises, I can't see a problem with that.

I think the "no advertising" rule refers to them not advertising that they sell cannabis overtly, ie no big ganja leaves or giant spliffs in the window.
All coffeeshops are required to display the distinctive white/green license, which to those that care says "we sell weed", but it's not explicitly stated anywhere outside.

im sure it is actually a case of the business itself is not allowed ot be advertised. nothing to do with the imagery of the advertising.Wyndham wrote:I think the "no advertising" rule refers to them not advertising that they sell cannabis overtly, ie no big ganja leaves or giant spliffs in the window.
in january i asked in blue bird if they had any business cards (i collect any coffeeshop souveniers i can get) and i was told that they cannot do business cards becuase that would count as advertising.

Re: Illegal or legal..? need help!
Much like everything else with the coffeeshops the no-advertising is a grey area, Paradox for example has business cards (I have one on my wall), Grey Areas website http://www.greyarea.nl/ is probably owned by them but it states it is fan run, personally I cant see how a map with coffeeshops on could even be seen as advertising let alone from the shops themselves.
