Hey, First trip to the dam! Advice please :)

Post by Billy420 »

Hey, im Billy, and im from South east UK! im 18 and have been toking for just over 2 years.

Iv recently started full time work and me and a friend are planning on going to amsterdam :D I think april is when we will be going. So basically ill list some questions and i would appreciate any help given as this is my first holiday without the parents

Is there anything special going on 20th april seeing as its 420?

Found a hotel on B&B basis for friday to monday with flights for £300 per person, is this good?

Any tourist traps to do with coffee shops?

How strong is there weed?, obviously it will effect people differently, but i get fairly good weed at the moment and its all ways covered in trichs.

How easy would it be to get a grinder or a pipe back from the dam?

Thanks in advance guys 8)

Amsterdam doesn't 'celebrate' 420.

It depends on tolerance, the weed can be great, average or shit.

If they're clean/unused no problem at all, used can be aproblem but thats only if you get stopped.

Cheers dude, think i may wait for 4-20! I would say my tolerance is average, it used to be high (no pun intended) but iv calmed down, i stil smoke pretty much everyday though!

Im hoping no-one would mind if 2 'noobs' joined the meeting for 4-20? would be great to meet new stonners :)

Ill make sure ill leave bulldog and grasshopper out then.

I wouldnt use the pipe, or i would clean it before i leave atleast. Grinder would deffo be used lol, was going to get a space case or similar and try and get some kief back :?

Cheers dude :D

Is that £300 including the hotel a package deal or did\have you got your flights seperate?. If you have not yet booked it might be worth holding off a couple of days untill you get more research and infor sorted m8.

First off if it's a package deal your looking at getting, check if you can get a cheaper deal getting your flight and accomodation seperate. Only saying that as whilst there is notihng wrong with package deals as such (assuming it is a package deal as your post kind on gives that impression) there are 2 very important factors to think about. The first being the location. If you have a named hotel\b&b check it's location in google maps. Often the package deal can be well out of the area and not really in Amsterdam at all. You dont want to find yourselfs miles from the action with just a couple of cs's where your b&b is do you?.

Also many hotels have different levels of policy to smoking in the hotels. Some are a big no no and will not think twice about throwing you out. Others are more relaxed and whilst saying you cant smoke in the room are not to strict as long as you open your window. Some places are fine but always best to use an open window. Some places are no smoking in the room but have designated areas in the place you can smoke in.

Well it's a fair deal then I guess. By the way have you actually checked on google weather it really is city centre (assuming you have the hotels address)?. Because in the past and even recently I've noted some places quote hotels as saying city centre when they end up being futher down the southen of the city.

To me city centre is say Dam Square and only quater of a mile in any direction is city centre for me. But yes most coffeeshops are city centre based. Check the map on the main page on this site it will give you an idea of the better known coffeeshops and where they are in relation to your hotel.

I just searched again and found this deal: Wednesday 20th april till Sunday 24th, at the inner hotel on a B&B basis, 1km from city centre, 2mins from tram line, Total per person = £363.60

not bad for 4 nights! and thats including flights.

It all comes down to how they define "city centre" I'm not saying they lie, buy they can be creative about how they class city centre.

For example city centre might be classed as the entire centrum area of Amsterdam that goes as far south as Mellow Yellow if you check the coffeeshop may. So that 1km could be 1km from the futherest point from the centre\centrum area. In theory 1km from the city centre could be near 2 mile from the train station.

I'd advice you to use either the train station or dam sguare as a starting point and look for something more in that area. I'd never go by whats claimed to be or near an area. Try and get the address for any of the places you have got, go over Amsterdam on google maps, put the hotels address and you will be able to see where the hotels really are in relation to there location claims.

If this is the address for the 1 you meant: Wanningstraat 1 1071 LA ? then it's well out of the way. Might not be to bad for the more experienced but for a first timer thats well out of the way like I thought, the best part of 2 miles from the train station if thats the place your currently looking at.
