The first was Hill Street Blues on Warmoesstraat in 2001. There was a Dutch lad working with me back home in Ireland at the time and he recommended this place to me. The first day of that trip which was my first time on holiday abroad was spent in Cork airport for about 8 hours because of delays. We did get a night in The Crowne Plaza out of it but our first day was a bust as we didn't arrive until late, maybe 1-2am.
Came across Hill Street fairly quickly that Friday and bought Northern Lights, again on the recommendation of my mate. Absolutely loved it and for the next 5-6 years Hill Street was always our base and a 20 bag of Northern Lights was always my first purchase. Had their space cake too that day and remember strolling around the red light in what can only be described as a trance. Being big drinkers as well as big smokers the law change that prohibited you from selling both weed and alcohol brought an end to our Hill Street haven. Also thought the quality of there weed declined from about 2007. I did have a drink in there a few weeks back and a jib in the smoking room but it wasn't the same as sitting at that big front window they have, just watching Amsterdam go by.
Last coffee shop in Amsterdam was Voyagers about 6 weeks ago and bought a gram of their special Not So Serious or something like that. Absolute dynamite for 10 euro a gram. Went back 15 mins later and bought another 4 grams, mostly shake and small buds for 30 euro as it was the last they had but still a fantastic smoke.
I'm living in Tilburg now so the last coffee shop I've been to is Toermalijn, yesterday for 3 grams, NYC Diesel, Kandy Kush and Bubblicious. 4 of the 5 weekends in November will be spent in Amsterdam with friends and family coming to visit so I see a lot of smoke in my immediate future
