First Time Visitors...

Post by YourGuru »

I have composed a list of the ten coffeeshops you should visit in your first two days in Amsterdam.

First Timers CS list... In no particular order...

1. De Kuil
2. Amnesia
3. Grey Area
4. Green House (I prefer Haarlemmerstraat location but RLD is good too)
5. Original Bulldog (I know I know but you HAVE to go during your first trip..
6. De Dampkring
7. Barney's
8. Hunter's
9. Green Place
10. Abraxas (suggested/edited by colina)

If anyone thinks there should be a replacement let me know....

Remember, this is for first time visitors only. We know that the CS experience is a personal one and we all have our "Spot(s)".

Abraxas is also an eyecatcher imo, touristic place but very nice interior.

Which one would you remove to avoid the making it the top 11? Which I am not opposed to, I'm actually quite fond of prime numbers...

imo Basjoe
Bosjoe is great for TnTs and popular by many members of this forum but it's not a must for the first time visitors imo. First timers and solo travelers will be disapointed I think.

I would opt Amnesia ... 've been there 2 times and have not yet felt very welcome :? .. possibly I have just been unlucky, but last time I was there was simply too much noise and too many weird people ... total killjoy
Amsterdam Viking warning .. ???

It's all personal preferance anyway, I wouldn't advise a first time visitor to the following:

Amnesia - commercialised thanks to Barneys influence.
Grey Area - too small to sit and chill.
Green House - commercial and considering the amount of awards they've 'won' the weed is pretty shit.
Original Bulldog (I know I know but you HAVE to go during your first trip.. - The weed sucks which is a shit thing for anyone let alone a first time visitor.
Barney's - see Amnesia.
Rokerij - always felt unwelcome in there myself and the one on the singel could do with a good clean.

Yea, i agree with most of this, however, never had problems in Barneys and i personally would reccomend it to 1st time visitors, and if they want good weed Grey Area is always worth waiting in the queue just to get some good bud, you dont have to sit in there :-)

How about replacing Greenhouse(always shit weed), Bulldog(erm... always shit,) and Rockerij (same reason as Boner) with places like Paradox, Mellow Yellow and Club Media :-), but that is my personal choice :-)

And you already have a top 11 on the list, have to get rid of Dampkring or Tweede Kamer, they are 2 different shops, it would be like listing Mellow Yellow/Noon together, or Barneys and Amnesia together, after all you did want to keep it to a top 10 :-)
Excuse me while I light my Spliff.....

What would be the top 3 for new visitors who take the train to Haarlem?

The Sativa has changed so much, no freshly made drinks only a vending machine and they have a turnstyle as well now.

In Haarlem I'd go for Easy Going, or WW Indica, cant beat having a windmill as your view.
