clubbing and clubs in amsterdam...

There's no section for clubbing so excuse if it's in the wrong area but was wondering:
1) any clubs recommended - trance/house/techno etc.
2) can you smoke in clubs - i know you can't inside but what about in the smoking areas?
3) am staying Leidersplien - any good clubs near there?

Of the above preferably none that have attitudy door staff and very flexible about dress code/shoes etc

As your staying in Leidseplein, there is a club next to the Bulldog coffeeshop in the square. Entrance is free and I think they stay open until 3am at the weekends. Yeah there are door staff, but just look confident and smile at them as you walk in! Not a club for Trance etc, more pop' - up to date and oldies. Don't believe all you hear about the tobacco ban. The club has 2 smoking rooms at the back, but they do not mind you smoking joints inside the club itself. In fact if you do skin up near the dance floor a waiter will come round and ask if you want an ash tray. A pint is 5 euros, but that's usual touristy spot bar prices. Often find myself in there late evenings, smoking a fat one checking out the girls in their short skirts on the dance floor, perv that I am.
Also in Leidseplein, round the corner from the above, is the Last Waterhole on Korte Leidsestraat. Bit more of a headbangers place, but they do have a happy hour from 8 pm with a pint at 3 euros.
