Virgin Pilgrimage ... what beautiful images that brings to my mind.

Your best bet is to do some forum searches and look up weather history .... BUT

I have found April weather to range from cool (high 50's) and rain to beautiful bright blue sunshine with 70 degree days. Three of my pilgrimages were right around this time, and the weather was mostly nice. Not much foliage on trees yet.

Beside the obvious coffeeshops, I like museums, churches, music, etc. The Botanical Garden is cool, Heinekin brewery, the Brouwerj T'Ij, a canal boat tour, a bicycle ride and a trip to Vondal Park. You might want to look into the iAmsterdam pass which is a 24/48/72 hour pass into many museums/chuches/attractions + unlimited public tram access. This pass also provides discounts on concerts at both the Musikgebouw(contemporary) and Concertgebouw(Classical) music venues.

First trip is AMAZING ... I would wish you a good time, but that would be unnecessary because I have found it impossilbe NOT to have a good time ... Amsterdam mijn Mekka
