March 12th to 15th

Post by Doobietronic »

Saturday 12th March 2011
After a massive countdown starting some 230 odd days ago, the morning myself and D had been waiting for has finally arrived.
Also on this trip to celebrate my birthday in Feb and D's at the begining of March are our Partners who don't smoke at all.

After a mega early morning start we arrive about 1030am to our hotel to drop our bags off. Initially we had to walk around with our other halves and behave, once they'd got bored of us dragging our heels, making noises and generally acting like children we rushed into the closest coffeeshop, having been to the dam a couple of times before and just stuck to the same coffeeshop that i really liked I didn't really know which overpriced noisey tourist trap of a shop to go into. Unfortunately we chose Hunters, the small one on the corner, the music was pumped up too high and there wasn't a particually good vibe to the place but still we looked at the menu as the girls were gonna come back to collect us once they'd had a look around, so we needed a hit and needed to get rolling quick smart. As I glanced down the menu I saw a few names that were now familiar From reading trip reports etc from here, when I asked the budtender to recommended something that was strong he pointed me at the 100% sativa €16 a gram and showed it to me,didn't think it looked particually great but needed a hit before we'd have to do touristy stuff and thought I'd give it a try.

100% sativa -for the 1st smoke it wasn't too bad,did the trick got us pretty battered, but was a rather harsh smoke on the throat, got upscaled on the green and ended up getting €23 worth. But couldn't be arsed to question it as was already having to raise my voice to be heard in there and was gagging to smoke.

After an hour on a canal cruise (which I might add was quite good) and a bumble around for a bit we made our way back to the hotel to get checked in and have a quick fresh up.

On the way back out we were given a surprise coffee shop pass by the girls. The smaller of the two Grasshoppers was a few paces away from our hotel. Again it was 1st day school boy errors,at several points prior to purchasing the green we should have said bollocks to the budtender.
 1. Both  Grasshoppers are known on here for being a tourist trap with crap weed
2. Not allowed to smoke your own weed.
3. Smallest amount he sold was two gramms?
Rather than thinking hold up let's go somewhere else my mate proceded to purchase 2gramms of bubble gum as the hot chocs had been made whilst we were deciding which herb we wanted.
4. Piss Poor hot chocolates €5 each

Bubble Gum €25 2g
I didn't try this as i continued with my previous purchase.
D reported it was alright but nothing special.

Would rather chew on foil with fillings than give this place our custom again.

Complete rip off but we let it happen.

Finally after two miss fires and several hours of trotting around the centrum, The girls were in need of an evening kip. Hooray as we high fived walked the girls back to the hotel and then picked up the pace to get to one of the coffeshops we'd planned to visit on this trip.

Right let's go somewhere we know should be Special..... Amnesia... we have found our solstice... It was so nice to walk into a coffeeshop and feel relaxed and at ease from the moment we stepped over the threshold. After staring at the menu for a few mins and a quick chat with the budtender we purchased 1g of Lsd. Sat down skinned up and just chilled, the music was a great mix of allsorts of funky and chilled tunes Inc  Kruder & Dorfmeister and Roots Manuva, we were happily mashed and both finally felt like we'd arrived, we stayed for a couple of hours.

1g LSD €13 lovely bud with a real nice smell, very smooth and a real nice high not to overpowering.

Once we had been out for tea with the girls and been for a
walk down the RLD for a bit of window shopping, we headed back over towards the hotel, stuck two fingers up at the grasshopper crossed the road down the alley and into Abraxas Too to purchase a €3.5 pre rolled spliff so we didn't feel too rude smoking our own in there and a round of drinks.
I continued with a combi of LSD,bubblegum and 100%.
D had a couple of friends over in the Dam whilst we were there, we'd hoped to have met up with them in Amnesia but they were sleeping off their earlier session when we were in there.
By the time D's friends finally made it over i was in a state, said hello to them then swiftly left with both the girls for the short walk back to the hotel whilst D caught up with them.
The fresh air quickly sorted me out and brought me back down.
The upstairs room In Abraxas Too Needs better ventilation, gets way too smokey up there if there's more than couple of smokes going round other than that a nice friendly coffeeshop.

Goodnight Amsterdam.....
Paradox tomorrow morning.

Sunday 13th March 2011

Skipping the boring bits and we arrive at Paradox about 1015, girls safely out of the way at the Anne Frank house for a couple of hours.

Straight to the bar and I order a couple drinks whilst D checks out the menu, was over the moon to see that Paradox did small €5 deals, which meant we decided to get the Turkish  for starters, chocolope for mains and whilst we were ordering two of those fine looking choc chip cookies for desert please.

Each Build a biffta with pretty much most of the Turkish and enjoy the taste ,smell and smoke. Reminded us both of the real good Hash we use to get years ago, with the starters done and feeling nicely stoned we move onto the main course chocolope, the bud we've got is beautifully trimmed and cured,it just crumbles into the rizzla the best smoke of the trip so far.
We grab a pack of cards from the table and play poker for the next hour or so.
Several smokes later and the homemade cookie for desert which I might add we both thought was spot on ,it was time to walk back to the Anne Frank house to meet the girls for lunch in the pancake bakery! Yum

On the walk over we both go into a mummbled ramble about how much we loved everything about Paradox and how it was nice to watch the locals pop in for a coffee and jumbo deal of green.

Turkish €5 think is was 0.4g couldn't fault it for the 1st smoke of the day real nice taste and an old school smell whilst burning it

Chocolope €5 think this one was 0.5g
Hit the spot nice smooth smoke and high
Best smoke and coffeeshop of the trip so far.

Back to amnesia late afternoon and there doing a cash up so the bud counter is closed for a bit,buy a round of drinks and this gives us a chance to smoke some of our purchases. We have a game of checkers and I get wiped out by D.

The usual RLD window shop walk is done after tea with the girls. D is waiting to hear from his friends so we decide to head back to Abraxas Too so that when we do hear from them the girls are close to the hotel and can bugger off.

Abraxas Too
Purchace some creme of maroc hash. Nice taste and burning smell seems the resins don't do what they use to when you've been smoking weed. But was a nice after dinner smoke.
1g Creme of Maroc €14 nice to be able to roll out some resin Sausages, good smoke. Sat out the front this time, was nice to be able to smoke in the fresh air.

11pm ish get a call that D's friends are over at amnesia,if only we'd known they were going there we would have skipped Abraxas, but not to worry, we say good night to the girls and take the short walk.
We get there and D buys some Top Dowg the English budtender with real short hair was super helpful, he could see we were a bit battered and asked us what we'd been smoking and liked, he then talked us through 3 different weeds encouraging us to have a smell, I would have gone for one of the kushes they'd just had a delivery of that eve but it wasn't my turn to buy. We weren't dissapointed with the Top Dowg ,nice cheese like smell and taste very good high, having not long had the maroc spliff the dowg knocked me out as I started sliding down in my chair I couldn't and didn't want to stop it, eyes like piss holes in the snow I was fucked. Goodnight amsterdam at some point later D was stood over me with his jacket on and it was time to walk back, again the fresh air woke me up.

Top Dowg 1g think it was €13 strong cheese smell, again like in Paradox real nice looking bud, admittedly I did pack this biffta but what a knockout!

On the way back D pulls out a baggie with some Tangerine Dream in that one of his friends has given to him to for a bday treat.
Last day tomorrow Booo!

Monday 14th March 2011

Last day

We don't  feel like smoking first thing so have a bumble round with the girls, eventually end up in Dutch flowers about 12pm

1gram vanilla queen? or was it queen vanilla? wasn't sure what to expect with this random buy, smelt nice, looked nice, the bud tender said it was strong (thought yeah heard that before) but it did look and smell nice so WTF.
Well hold my ears and fuck my face, real great smooth taste going down and a very quick head high, within about 10mins had us in fits of giggles. A real surprise high that lasted for a couple of hours, unfortunately the girls came back quicker than expected so had to bumble around again with bright red eyes smiling away to myself and trying not to have any eye contact or conversation with D as we would both start pissing ourselves with laughter, made the shopping trip in the Albert Heijn more enjoyable wobbling around the aisles  stocking up on fritessaus, ontbijt koek, extra belegen cheese, and a jar of calve creamy peanut butter which I'd recommend to all peanunt butter lovers . My ladies mum is Dutch so am quite partial to Dutch treats and condiments.

"We're gonna go to the Van Gogh museum this afternoon if you two want to go for a smoke!!!" What a cracking unexpected sentence to hear. D & I look at each other " Paradox?"   "He'll yeah", we go past grey area again but it's still packed, would loved to have tried their East Coast Sour (if it was still in) but that was not a worry. Paradoxs cookies were calling.
D buys another €5 chocolope deal we stay in here about 3hrs or so
1st of all I rack up a tangerine dream didn't put too much in as wanted to leave D some, real smooth toke and probably the best taste I've ever had.
Then onto the top dawg and then back to the good old faithful vanilla queen,a game of cards, several drinks and a round of toasties later we need to get some air.

Would just like to say that Paradox was both our favourite C/S of this visit. The busy loud tousist C/S's right in the centrum were just not for me, the fact you can buy a good selection of weed/hash In €5 deals in Paradox means you can try a good few types and not end up with too much to smoke.ESP as we don't smoke our spliffs like we saw alot of people buying a 1g bag then mixing and splitting it in two cones.
Paradox we love you!

After dinner once the girls were flagging again we head back to abraxas Too to buy a pre roll and a round of drinks before they head off to bed, a quick spark of the pre rolled and we soon swap that for a vanilla queen followed by a couple more mixed up spliffs to try and get through our purchases before going home tommorrow.
Thanks for having us Amsterdam..

Fantastic conversational style of writing, liked the description of how you try to act straight while with the girls, lost count of how many times I've been in a similar situation myself

Also liked the random nature of the places you went to, as no matter how I try to plam Amsterdam I end up just like you, wandering around wondering where the hell I,m going next, and not caring to be honest----------Abraxas ah--not a particularly well liked shop on this site but I liked it---godd place to go to if your good lady dosnt smoke and likes a bit of shopping---good shops all around Abraxas, get the ladies to dump you off here like a kid in a spaced out creche while she goes shopping
