Call me mad, but I was wandering if?
At the risk of being called a right loon and saying I aught to be locked up for my own good etc. But I gotta ask this just to see if I'm the only person this happens to.
You know when your doing nothing, just sat there or walking about letting your mind wander off (even when your with your missus etc) basically minding your own business. And when you start to think about Amsterdam and all if has to offer cannabis wise and any upcoming trip. Well am I the only fuckin person where if you think about it hard enough or for long enough you get a faint but sure aroma of cannabis entering your nose?. Even where you are in a place where there is no way it's cannabis smoke coming off another person?.

You're mad...MAD, I tell you!!
The mind can be a powerful thing, and you must want something bad enough to think you smell what is not there.
Did you REALLY smell it, or just think so?

Fuck knows, my head and nose tells me I can smell it but when I'm in the open with nobody else about it sure makes me think. Cause you never know who or how many in your area smoke behind doors as most would'nt advertise the fact. So that would account for some of it. But certainly not all the time or when I'm in the open away from anyone?.nippers wrote:You're mad...MAD, I tell you!!

THIS is what I'm saying. Sometimes can be explained, but what about the impossible times?Dave J wrote:But certainly not all the time or when I'm in the open away from anyone?.
How long can the sweet smell of weed live on the wind? A question whose answer may explain your perceived madness.
I've been burning a lot of amster-hash. Never mind me, haha.

Re: Call me mad, but I was wandering if?
Glad it's not just me then
. Prehaps on the times I really do smell it passing houses etc it might trigger some kind of memory sence for the brain & nose that can start and stop at a strong thought about a smell or item?.
Dont know if it's unhealthy trying to work out a clever explanation like that about why I can smell something that I should not be able to?.

Re: Call me mad, but I was wandering if?
You're not (necessarily) going mad! There is something which could explain it.
When you repeatedly smell or taste two things simultaneously, the brain links them together, as though they are one and the same. For example, lets say you always blend together bananas and strawberries. Then one day, you eat just the bananas alone. Your brain fills in the gaps and you think you can taste strawberry, even though there is none.
So maybe its another smell which is tricking your brain. For example it could be coffee. When you're in an Amsterdam coffeeshop, its very common to smell weed and coffee at the same time.

I've heard that smell is the sense most strongly linked with memory...
Re: Call me mad, but I was wandering if?
Yes, exactly that, odors trigger memories, and likewise, memories of something smelly triggers a response we perceive as aroma or odor. How else would your mind interpret a memory of an aroma?la2019 wrote:I've heard that smell is the sense most strongly linked with memory...
Remember how dittos smelled? Did you just catch a whiff of them?
There must have been a door there in the wall when I came in.

Well is that official, I'm not going mad then?
