Android app MTrip Amsterdam Travel guide ?

Post by Wrap_it_up_B »

Has any one used this app before? I'm thinking of buying it for Rome, Amsterdam, and Paris. Its seems like it would be really helpful and you can use it off line because I would think internet fees would get a little expnsive with a phone from the states. Any comment would help.

Thanks,

Wrap

I have yet to find an app for Amsterdam that's worth buying. It's easier to just print of an ACD map and use the free wifi hotspots around town. https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12267

I just bought it and if it works it should be pretty cool. I can take all the CS that I want to visit and add them to the maps on the Mtrip map. So as I go through my itinerary I can stop buy all the CS I want along the sightseeing routes. You can make your own itinerary, or it can suggest one and you can take away and add places of interest. It seems the best part of it all is you dont have to be online after you download the initial map. Anyway I will try it out and report back. If anyone is going there before I (4-17 - 4-21), and is looking for an android app, please report back. I will also be using the Rome and Paris one.

Thanks,

Does it already have the coffeeshops in it? I guess my travel style is different. I prefer to not have a plan, I like to "live" like a local when on vacation. I look forward to you reporting back.

Peace,
Balou

PS - Just found the files on the developer network, I love free stuff!

It does already have the CS on it under the Bars and Nightlife tab. After messing around with it if it works how it says it will this shoud be really cool. There is an option on the navigation tab you can click the Augmented Reality tab above the map, and it will use the camera on your phone and the GPS. As you swing around 360 deg and depending on the items you want to display on the map (Attractions, Resturants, Hotels, Shopping, Bars and Nightlife, and Other(train stations ect.) It shows a live map through your camera as you walk around and you can click on the image that pops up for each attraction ect. and it will give you a brief description.

I also like to not have plan but, I also like to plan quick if needed, and not carry a map around. Sometimes you have to ask 10 diff people to find out where I'm going and how long it will take by foot if a cab is not needed. Anyway it looks really cool IF it works. lol Well I will see and check back. I would imagine it would be more helpful in bigger cities like Rome and Paris.
