Smoking Kief & Budder - will someone set the record straight

OK so last time kinda just went around The Dam not much bothering with things/or naive of things like:
Budder, Kief, and Ice-O-Lator - therefore have never tried them and not entirely sure how to use/smoke them.
Put this in a former post but advice was inconclusive.

To check then:

Kief/Crystals/Trichomes : these are basically sprinkled into a joint/pipe or similar to perk it up a bit?

Budder - can be smoked in a joint or more generally in a pipe/bong - but what is the simplest and best way of smoking it? - what all this thing about hot knives - i'll be in a hotel and this is just not practical.

Ice-O-Lator - like hash - (is ice-o-lator actually hash though?)

Trichs/crystals are as you say to be sprinkled into a joint or on top of a bong bowl to super charge it. they can be smoked straight (on a bed of tobacco in a bong or joint) but crystals don't taste nice on their own.

Budded/butter can be added to a weed joint to double supercharged it, but smoking it straight (with tobacco to aid the burn) is the most common way I've witnessed. bidder does not taste nice either, it's just about the astonishing high. there's no set best way to consume it. It's purely preference of joints or bongs, both work well and simply.

Hot knives, I've heard of these too, but never seen it in action, I wouldn't worry about it, stick to bowls and skins ha ha

Ice-o-latter is hash. You may be aware of bubble bags/ice bags and the process of making ice-o-later. Butter is an extract using chemicals, so I suspect you can't call it a true hash, whereas ice-o-lator uses only water and ice and new technique to end up with a fantastically refined traditional hash.

As for budder - The mini head vapour tube looks cool but there's no way I'm buying it.
Would this work as a much cheaper alternative?

This is interesting, I asked if anyone knew where to get a Hash bowl and budder skillet in Amsterdam in this thread, it looks as if this could be a decent substitute if I don't find one. For that price I will probably buy one to leave in town as I'm going to visit fairly regularly this year.

I would have thought that it's probably better to heat the bowl before adding the budder, as opposed to heating the bowl once the budder has been added, similar to the way the titanium skillet that I linked above (or glass nail for that matter) is used?

If the bowl is heated prior to adding the budder/oil, why does it take two?
Pipe in one hand, metal rod with budder in the other.
But if I have difficulties alone, I reckon that finding a volunteer to help smoke some budder, shouldn't be too difficult
