Watching Amsterdam Nights prepairing for next months trip!

Post by Dave J »

Came by this 4 year old gem of a program this week looking for Amsterdam related tv shows & films to get me in the mood for the big trip next month.

Amsterdam Nights was a 12 part tv documentry series by the UK cable channel Bravo (RIP) made and broadcast in 2007?. Was mainly centered around the sex industry after re-watching the first 2 eps last night. But does cover the tourist, crime & coffeeshop bussiness to a point. Dont think it's ever been released on dvd so lucky I came by it the way I did  .

Anyone else ever watched this show as I cant really recall members having mentioned it. But sure worth a view when getting ready for a Dam trip.

But it's got me thinking, what else do us fellow members watch Dam related wise to get you in the mood for a ever nearing trip?.

Only problem is Sky bought the channel a few months ago (to effectivly buy the viewers and new program rights) and probably dont retain any rights to the back catalogue of produced tv shows. They would almost certainly be retained by Virgin Media and thus possably not be screened again ever unless a rights issue is sorted.

I dont think it has been screened for near 2 years now as rights to programming can be a bit of a basdtard here in the UK. Example is kids program Rentaghost cant be released due to rights issues with Linda La Plante using legal rights when she used to be in that before becoming famous as a writer.

Guess youtube is the only place most will see it these days. Either that or search the torrent sites?.

One vid worth a watch is a programme put out in 2008 by BBC3 to get you in the mood. Its about a rather ditsy journalist who gets a job in Damprkring coffeeshop to report on the effects of cannabis. A few funny scenes where she nearly wets herself in the Hemp Museum whilst stoned, and in a psychiatrist office where, after been giving an injection of THC and cannaboids, she gets the giggles and tries to wipe her nose on a polythene bag before the doctors hands her a tissue and says 'you may find this softer.'

Some bullshit in the prog about UK home grown skunk being genetically modified and such like, buts it worth a view just to have a look at Bowie the stoned cat in Dampkring. Here is the link:-

(If the sound is garbled, right click on the screen and turn of HD - programme duration is about an hour)

google "Bravo Amsterdam Nights" and you'll find all the torrents! If you don't have "Bit Torrent" installed already, download that program too! Load the torrents in "Bit Torrent" and the download starts! But it's file sharing and illegal!
