CO2 Generator (Home Made)

Post by SkinAnother »

Thought I'd post this, in case anyone finds it worthwhile. Never seen it being done this way.

This is not my video. Just sharing what I found.

pretty interesting ... two weeks of co2 wtih ten minutes prep, really nice, cheap and easy materials

have you tried it growing? I have used a vinegar drip into a baking soda slurry. The plants liked it, but it was a daily chore.

Not as yet, will be starting my grow thread in a few weeks for my first grow, once I have moved out of the in-laws. All equipment in the basement and money in the savings for the rest of the stuff I need :D

Just came across it and thought I would post it here if anyone was interested. Hopefully it will help someone :D

So, what the plan for CO2 supplementation once you get going? Got an automated unit?

I'm not 100% sure to be honest, it has been a bit of a stretch with my funds to get everything together so far. I have relocated to a new country and now we are moving to a new flat, for which we have to buy new furniture etc etc... The money I have saved for the remainder of the grow is in a secret account so the missus can't spend it on extra furnishings. Ssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

This grow is probably not going to have any kind of CO2 supplementation to be honest, if it does it will be something similar to what you have done or similar to the post above. It will be good to have my first grow under my belt before I get ahead of myself. I think doing a basic grow for my first will then be the foundations to build upon in the future.

That's a great point Midzy .. I had a Mr. Beer Kit which could have been adapted with an exit hose like in the video.. I wonder if that would have a negative impact on the beer :?:

I never noticed any negative effects tasted fine

If you live near a big body of water, CO2 concentrations will be higher. Bring fresh, outside air in is a KISS type choice.

A 2 year bump... are ya stoned and bored, perusing the archives? ;)
Living near water won't raise the co2 levels high enough to make any significant difference. If it does, move...
Current global level of co2 in our atmosphere is approximately 400ppm, and rising (think climate change). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_dio ... atmosphere
Cannabis reacts to a bump in co2, even breathing in a grow tent increases co2, however not to levels us farmers/growers want. There are varying opinions as to an optimum level of co2, from normal atmosphere (no brainer), upwards of 1500 ppm and higher. According to this thread... https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=221893 ... and several others, the optimal range is between 1000-1200 ppm. Seems reasonable, and there's science to prove it, which I really like. :D\
The DIY co2 generator I use is a 1.75 liter container filled with 1.25 liters of water mixed thoroughly with 1/2 cup of sugar and a 4 gram packet of yeast. I've experimented using several techniques to release the built up co2, deciding to allow the co2 to build up pressure; slowly unscrew cap until a slight hissing sound can be heard; when hissing sound has stopped, screw cap securely; repeat three more times during the 12 hour light period. The mixture and technique enable me to enrich the grow area for approximately four days, at which time I add another 1/2 cup of sugar. After this mixture is spent, I clean and sterilize the bottle, then make a fresh mixture and repeat over a four week period.
To each their own and all that... :)
Happy Farming with co2...

Well for those with tents and carbon filter extraction (most) seems like air in the entire room is changed every few minutes and those ways of passively adding co2 would be exauhsted and wasted. Basically 1000 PPM can only be sustain in those with AC sealed type environment. I would have thought you'd have came to same conclusion UR. Seems obvious.

With fresh air always coming in at least you'd know you'd have 400+ levels could drop below that depending on a few variables with a stoners setup.

Bang on the money, total waste of time, get some canisters and do it properly you would crap it when you see the real difference proper infusion can acheive. Try it cheap enough and even 1wk will give you more than a lifetime with the DIY jobs.
