Veteran weed smoker traveling to Amsterdam for my first time with a buddy. We are staying in central Amsterdam at the Flying Pigs Hostel or Shelter Hostel. Basically, want to smoke the best of the best and hit all the greatest spots in our short stay of 3 days. Any suggestions and tips for a rookie traveler to amsterdam for someone who has been smoking weed consistently for the past 10 years. Appreciate any suggestions or advice from fellow smokers who have already experienced what were about to go through...and YES we will be there for 420!...so where is the spot to be on the best holiday of the year?!THANKSSS

theres good weed to be found at any shop just use your senses, smell look etc, dont be suprised if you see alot of shit weed too, but like Dava said definitely check out Grey Area, Greenplace and i'd recommend Blues Brothers too which is literally right across from the Flying Pig, try their L.A Confidential its a top smoke! Also if you want to know what is really good right now take a look at the trip reports they will have all the information you need.

Greenhouse and Green Place are not at all consistent in my experience.
I might add that I have nearly 30 visits under my belt too, 6 in the last 14 months.
Both are very hit and miss IMO, Green Place can have some great strains, but consistency, no.
Greenhouse is consistent for sub-par weed, here and there they have something good.
Katsu are consistent.
Voyagers have been very consistent since HB has been there.
Basjoe consistently has good weed and hash.
Popeyes consistently has good hash, weed can be hit and miss.

But things vary from day-to-day at most coffee shops, one day a particular strain may be great, next day it can be nowhere near as good.
Check the latest recommendations/trip reports a day or two before you leave, and other than that, follow your eyes and nose.

No need to apologize mate, we all have different opinions and experiences, I just mentioned mine.

If you make into de Pijp, Club Media has some consistently good weed for a very decent price and de Graal has usually has good weed and especially hash. Also, the Funky Monkey and 1e Hulp have good stuff(I've found the Hulp's hash to be their strong point whereas I've only had weed from the Funky Monkey.) Most important thing though is to examine the weed before you buy- you usually can't touch it, but you can look at it and give it a whiff. Even the best coffeeshops sometimes sell below-par stuff because they usually don't have much control over the cultivation due to fucked up Dutch laws.

Make sure to take a stroll around Vondelpark when your head is in the right place
