the budtender in told me once that the gruis here is more indica because it's made up mainly from the 'special' but there are a couple of shops (maybe dampring or siberie) that sell a choice indica or a sativa gruis

Thanks for all the replies!! Must visit Mr "Hugo's" to try his shake at the first opportunity on the next visit. Is it best to smoke this in a bong, vaporiser, a joint or doesn't it matter? Might learn two things in the one day here!!!!!

What can I say, I had a great time on my short trip to Amsterdam didn't smoke anything that was less than great and this coffeeshop was my pick of the trip ......and that takes some doing.
Thanks "Marco" for so much info about this shop and it's finery
Easy to get to, "Hugo de Groot's" only bad point is it's a buy and fly, so no sitting skinning up and smoking their wares....But you never too far from a coffeeshop to blaze away...
Not the biggest menu by any means, but the budkeeper was very friendly and keen to help out.
I bought the "AMG13" 1g for 11euros and this was an amazing smoke. Tasty, trippy, very long lasting and intense. If anyone, tourists, are still over there, go buy this. If you live there, go buy it you lucky bastards!!!!
While you're there, take the Gruis home with you as well at 5 euros a pop!!!(Get in there "Winnie"  8) 8) A wonderful recommendation) Ok it's a mixture of different strains as the budmaster explained but it was dripping in crystals and what with this being a crazy mixed up world we're living in, after smoking this i was in another crazy mixed up world at the cost of 5 euros. Didn't even need to grind it up, just rough up the bag a bit!
The pal went for some hash, the "Hugo de luxe" at 10 euros a 'g', an absolute steal of a buy, cracking smoke and long lasting different sort of a stone, buy it, buy it, buy it!!!!! The budtender lite a small amount, put it on some card to smoke away so the pal could inhale some of the vapor. This was passed to me and i self consciously tried to frantically draw the smoke in hoping it wasn't going to burn throught the card leaving me looking like a right dick staring at a hole in it.
All done, we walked out the shop having been given back a euro i'd over paid and having nearly knocked over their sign outside, preceeded to walk in the wrong direction for 50 yards, before realising how stoned i'd become from inhaling that small amount of vapor!!!!
This was right up there with any of the more expensive buys costing 12.5 euros for 0.5 of a 'g'!!!!
If the whole coffeeshop experience doesn't go tits up, i'll be back here. No doubt about it. For those in the know who frequent it on a regular basis, .....you lucky bastards!!!!

Nice shop, buy & fly only. Had the Hugo Special and it was damn good for the price. I only wish I had been there on 20th for the discount. I will definitely visit the shop in the future.

it's a nice walk through the jordaan from the center...you could walk it in 15 minutes. It's very near 'de supermarkt' and not far from 1e hulp.
