What forms of ID are accepted at coffeeshops? I don't really want to carry my passport with me everywhere, but I'm guessing my state issued driver's license isn't going to suffice.

I read the other day that UK licenses are ok so you might be in luck.

Wait for confirmation from someone who knows for sure tho.

I always carry my passport when I'm outside the US. You never know when something might happen and I like to be prepared.

Peace,

I was reading De Supermarkt's website today and spotted what they want in their house rules.
Only the following ID is accepted: passport, identity card & driver's license. So: not expired, no copies, no elderly cards, no student cards.

Technically it's a Passport, European ID card or a dutch driving license.

This ought to be a post-it for future reference.
Anyone traveling outside of their country should carry their passport with them at all times, I think it's mandatory in most countries.
Question - why carry your drivers license when you have a passport? A typical response is having a fear of loosing the passport, to which I reply "no fear of loosing the license"? You have made copies of your passport, one at home and one secured in your hotel room, right? Copy of your drivers license and any other important document/item brought along? Search the internet and you will find many "horror" stories of people who weren't prepared. Doesn't mean these will happen to you, but why take the unnecessary risk? Just saying...

Happy traveling...
