Hey forum,
Not posted here much - and been lurking for a while though.
I have a couple of questions regarding an up and coming trip to Amsterdam in mid may.
I've been a frequent Amsterdam visitor since I was 18 (been every year up until I was 31 - now 33) - So I know my way around and i'm well versed in coffeeshops etc.... My questions are mostly pertaining to the changes in recent years.... Coffeshops told to choose between drink or weed license and the recent smoking ban.
When I was last in the city the smoking ban had just been introduced - and it all seemed a little haphazard as to what the new 'rules' were - but in looking around the forum and the newer posts in the directory I have seen that there is some confusion in the smoking ban issue.
When last there - i rolled with tobacco - but kept this very much un-obvious to avoid any hassle for staff or otherwise - I take it this is still the case? - Or are there any shops with a more lax attitude to this? - I'm assuming its prudent to not openly flaunt tobacco or associated stuff.
With regards the drinking thing in coffeeshops - how has this impacted the scene as it were? - I know when it came into effect some shops (Rookies springs to mind) opened premises near by as a bar - where you could smoke stuff bought in the coffeshop. Does this still happen - if not are there any bars that still llet you smoke in them?
Really looking forward to the trip - just wanted a bit of a heads up on the developments over the last couple of years in my abscence - to get the best out of the trip and get by in a chilled and relaxed manner!
Cheers for your help.

Its been a while....
Re: Its been a while....
When I was there last year most coffeshops didn't seem to care about tobacco, even down to seeing the odd cig being smoked in some - if in doubt ask the staff I guess but I never got and grief.MCL wrote:Hey forum,

There's quite few smoker friendly bars, not much of a drinker so can't really comment but Nes always gets good words on here.MCL wrote:Hey forum,

Almost every shop I was in March 2011 there was either someone smoking hash mixed with tobbacco or there were tobacco remnants on the table or in the ashtray..imo the smoking ban is not enforced in c/s at least.....but I only visited 28 of the 200 there, so limited sample I guess...
