Cannabutter advice needed???

Hey there, sorry if this is not posted in the right section but my head is about to explode, i am wanting to make a batch of space cakes tomorrow, never tried it before so im a bit apprehensive about how to do and best method etc.

After a bit of research it seems the best way is to make cannabutter but every where i look there is a different method as to how to make it and every method is for 8oz of butter or more and each one mentions different amounts of bud/shake/trim or hash.

Like i said i have never made these before and i dont wanna waste my bud, so i want to do a trial run and i only want about 4oz butter to make one batch of cakes(about 12 fairycake size) and i was planning on using about 3.5gms of normal enlish bud, quite strong bud tho, to make the butter, will this be enough to get a good stoned affect? I am quite a heavy smoker but wanna stop smoking during the day to save me lungs but wanna be stoned still, is also easier when im around family etc.

Would it work as good if i just put the weed in the cake mixture?

Any advice would be great, thanks guys.

Here is one i use...

Keep all sugar leaves, trim and popcorn buds from your grow lets say 4 oz, grind everything up and you should get something like 3 or 4 cups worth.
The weed was added to 2.5 lbs. of unsalted butter. Combine in a pot and after half an hour or so add 6 cups of boiling water. Simmer for 6 to 8 hours. Add more boiling water if needed. Cool and strain the mixture through a mesh strainer and cheese cloth. Really squeeze the butter out of your grounds and then pour another 2 cups of boiling water over them, to extract as much of the butter as possible. (I like to strain my water/butter mixture a second time to remove sediment, using new cheese cloth.)
Cool and then refrigerate overnight. The butter will rise to the top and solidify. In the morning, take the butter out of the container, and discard the water and sediment. I like to drain my butter on paper towel for a few minutes to remove all moisture. Place in an airtight container and refrigerate. I ended up with just under 2 lbs of yummy canna budda that can be used in any baking recipe calling for oil or butter.

Thanks for the info guys, it was great and i will definately bear it mind for the future.

However at the moment im not in a position to grow my own weed so i cant really afford to experiment to much, street weed prices just kill ya.lol. So i only have the 3.5 gms to play with and i would rather not bother making the butter/cakes if that is not enough to get a good buzz. I did look at a few other threads on here but again most of them are talking about quite big amounts of weed/butter and most people know what the name and strength of the weed is that they use, once again i dont know what my weed is called and the strength is, although it does get me nice and baked when smoked. I was kinda hoping someone else on here had been in the same position as me and if they had any advice on making good edibles with minimal weed.

I do plan on growing very soon, am just waiting on moving.

Hey there, well i did it and made my own cannabutter and space cakes. Like i said i found it near on impossible to find a recipe/method for cannabutter when only making a small amout or only have a small amount of weed so i thought i would share with you all how i did it incase anyone else ends up in the same situation as me.

CANNABUTTER RECIPE

3.5gms of normal medium strength weed.
4oz of butter normal or unsalted.
Small pan (for melting butter in).
Large pan (for boiling water).

1. Grind weed to a fine powder and put to one side for a moment.

2. Fill large pan 2/3rds full with water and bring to the boil.

3. Put the butter in the small pan and place the small pan on top of the boiling water in the large pan and melt the butter (you can melt the butter in smaller pan directly on the hob but butter burns quite easliy so i would reccomend doing it this way). Once the butter has melted add the grinded weed and continue to heat the butter while stiring occasionaly, the butter should be slighty simmering, do this for 30-40 mins.

4. Now strain the butter in to a bowl or something and press the weed to get all the butter out, you can then throw the weed away as all the THC will be in the butter, you should be left with a greeny/yellowy liquid in your bowl. Put your bowl in the fridge for 2 hours to set the butter, once set it should be green. Please note that you do not have to strain the butter you can just leave the weed in there, it wont affect the taste or strength but you may occasionally feel a bit of weed in your mouth. Use this butter in replcement for normal butter in practically any dish/cake you require.


CHOCOLATE SPACE CAKES RECIPE

Makes approximately 12 -16 fairy cake size cakes.

4oz Self Raising Flour
4oz Caster Sugar
4oz Cannabutter
2 Medium Eggs Beaten
2 Tablespoons of Milks
2 Tablespoons of cocoa powder
12-16 cup cake cases

Pre heated oven 180 degrees

1. Cream the cannabutter and sugar together untli light and fluffy.

2. Gradually add the beaten eggs.

3. Fold in the flour a spoonful at at a time.

4. Add the milk and cocoa powder and mix until mixture has a nice even colour.

5. Divide the mixture between 12 -16 cup cases (depending on how big they are) and bake in the middle of the oven for 18-20 mins. Leave to cool and then enjoy, eat with caution.


I made 16 cakes and ate 2 of them as soon as they cooled down and about 45 mins later i definatley felt something another 20 mins after that and i was very stoned, not so much in my head, more of a body stoned but really nice, 4 and half hours later and i can still feel them, not quite as intense but is defianetly still there. Pretty successful considering it was my first time making them, i just wish i could share with all you guys on here
