Smokey is no doubt the worst coffeeshop in Amsterdam. They were selling soap bar FFS. Never had a problem with the 1 guy at Bushdoctor tho.

I think I have to say Route 99 is the worst I have experienced. Staff was rude and they obviously did not welcome single women in general. The air was very chauvinistic. Wanted to play some pool, but the empty tables were not available to me. Picked up some Jack Herer, decent but overpriced. The overall air was very unwelcoming to say the least. They won't get anymore of my money!

I also have to add in my 2 cents concerning Yves post. I think the post was very rude. Quite a few of us can vouch for Zunkii in the fact that he is a decent and respectful guy.

"Refrain from coming back to our country?" I live in the Netherlands and I think people with your attitude ARE the problem.

I also live in the Netherlands. Actually what pissed me off in Zunkii's post was the fact that he refused to pay his coffee because of his size. Onbeschofte mensen inderdaad!

I don't think he refused because of his size...... he refused because of the service and attitude..... his size just made it a more secure thing for him to do.

Well, I'm getting it finally! Fight attitude with attitude. Do'h! A better quote would be : Fight attitude with altitude.

You are a prick, I was just stating I did not pay and because of my size, was not challenged by the guy trying to rip me off. I would have refused to pay if I were not big, but would probably have been intimidated into paying. The intimidation to pay was from their side not mine. Would you rather that I had just meakly paid? I made a stand against these guys, and so should more people.

Yes! Exactly! O brilliant one! First you pay. Then you never return to that place. That's how things work, at least in this country. By leaving without paying, you are stealing.

And please refrain from using your little words. Are you an adult or a whining kid?

Look, I am a peer of this site, not a moderator or administrator, but I did create this thread and more than once I've had to keep it from spiralling into the cesspool so many other once useful threads have come to nowadays. I'm not telling ANYONE what to do, but please respect the idea that this is primarily is an informational site, and information is the last thing anyone has to offer recently. If you're post doesn't have to do with a terrible coffeeshop experience, don't post it here, please. Like I said, plenty of threads where you can try to think of the best insult quickest on the forum, don't gunk up this thread. I get excited when I see there are new posts, and so disappointed when I see the particular avatars that make the rest of us cringe because we know what's coming. Perhaps a new forum just for people to snipe at each other is that what's missing.

Also, if this plea is somehow mangled and misinterpreted into an argument for censorship, let me nip that in the "bud". It's not, say what you want, but say it in the appropriate venue. This thread, and others like it, are becoming useless and ignored because of this cyclical nonsense.

It's strange how different people have different opinions on places! (not saying anyone is wrong, just guess it depends when you are there)
I've been to both Jolly Joker and Bushdocter.
Bushdocter was the first CS I went to, and the guys in there seemed friendly. When they came up to clear the tables, someone had left some hash on the table next to us and they gave it to us to finish off.
Jolly Joker i also like, been there twice but only once made a purchase, which was Jack Herer which was very nice and reasonably priced!
Guess it can just depend on the mood of the day, and i've been lucky :)

Funny People is not the worst coffeeshop by far, but they have sadly made my list of "never returns" tonight. I went in, bought a cup of tea, and sat down to syphon Wifi off of someone in the area. After ten minutes, the tender approached me in the relatively empty shop (which made this all the more irritating) and told me I can't just play on my computer all day, I need to buy weed. I said it was good to know, especially since at that moment I was complimenting the shop for the next Weedly Report. He show the true colors of that place just in time. I got up and immediately left without an argument. It's his shop, and I won't dispute, BUT...

I know some disagree, but I feel that ANY purchase of a drink or more makes you a patron, thus you can stay. I also know that coffeeshops CANNOT insist you buy weed to stay, but the rule is rarely enforced at the few places that choose to break it, all of which listed above, I'm sure. Any shop that has a problem with you bringing your own gear isn't worth your time. If their weed wasn't usually shit maybe I would have bothered looking at the menu. You want me to buy weed? GET BETTER WEED.

There's a bajillon shops in that section of town, time in this town too precious to be spending it at Funny People.

I have to jump in and say something here. I dont really like it when a coffeeshop requires that you buy some herb to sit in thier shop either. But lets understand something here. Yes, they are called coffeeshops, only because they cannot be called pot places or marijuana markets or cannabis shops (except in Haarlem). Coffeeshops can also NOT advertise, as most other businesses are able to do. The purchase of a drink has about a 30 cent profit for the owner. Do you think this is enough profit in which to run a business? I dont. The coffeeshops exist to make money from weed sales. I have seen people come into coffeeshops and expect to spend all day there if they only buy a single coffee. They will also use the shops rolling papers, tips, bathroom and anything else the shop is providing; for free of course. It takes more money in electricity to keep the lights on than the 30 cent profit he will make by you purchasing a drink.
These are businesses. They are there to make money, regardless of how much you and I dont like to HAVE TO buy from thier weed menu. If they dont make money, then another coffeeshop closes...and then another. At that rate, there will only be the Bulldog's and Grasshoppers left. That is definately NOT what I would want. I appreciate the diversity of pot shops, myself. There have been too many shops already closed; by the government mostly. All I'm trying to say here is, if you like the shop enough to go in, sit down and chill for awhile, SUPPORT IT! Buy some weed! Buy some drinks. I'm sure buying some herb wont be the biggest waste of a few euros, that you have made. Peace.
