Hugo de Groot's Cheese
Image

Listed on the haze section of the menu and a bargain at 10e/g. It looked too good in the tub to pass up with a deep forest green color frosted with bright snowy crystals. Tangy cheddar smell. Nice happy balanced elevating effect. With a bit of sunny visual glow. Very happy, more on the sativa side than some cheese I've tried. Greasy, tangy, cheesy smoke. Wish I had more. Almost went back for it. Always the sad case of too much to smoke in too little time... 9.6/10. A.

I will catch up with everyone this weekend. Thanks for all of your great comments (they're fucking awesome!)

Also, I will do my best to finish the actual run-down of all the strains this weekend so that 4-20 goers can see what I found. Smoke one in my honor (make it Basjoe's Amnesia Haze, or some Bas Special, please, or Voyagers OG18, or...)

Image
Bas Special would be so good with my coffee

Image
Basjoe's OG Kush would be even better because really who needs to think today.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, and might I add nicely written and illustrated. Well fucking done.

I too am a lover of Amnesia Haze, can't seem to get enough of the stuff. If I may suggest, check out what Prix d'Ami has to offer, their prices are quite reasonable when compared to the average. Also C/S Kabouter, they usually have nice hydro. I recommend the Amnesia, Kabouter Haze, and their 'special' haze. I think the prices were reasonable, if they remained the same from my last visit six months ago, which was E8.50 and E10gm respectively.

Enjoy the rest of your trip with the little Mr.
I, along with others, look forward to more of your report.

Thank you.
Happy geeking out...

Boerenjongen's John Deer
Image

After I had nabbed the Amnesia Haze and the Super Silver G18, I asked the budtender to show me "a few of his favorite indicas." He pulled the John Deer off the shelf without hesitating (9 e/g). I took it as a good sign that the tub was well below the halfway mark.

Not the most distinctive smell, but with notes of lemon, cut grass, and thyme. Smooth, herbal taste with the faintest lemony sweetness on the exhale. Mellow calm stone. I liked that this was both very different than the prevalent white indicas and stoney without being debilitating. 8.4/10.

Boerenjongen's John Deer

It really looked like Katsu's Black Widow, and tasted a bit like it too, but if they are related, the John Deer is pulled a little earlier before the trichs get as amber-ed, so it's less stupefying.

We finished that partial joint of John Deere yesterday at Basjoe, geekygirl, thank you so much for leaving all you did! I figure I'll leave it again and you use it next time you come... perfect. 8)

Loving your report as usual, gf, just now getting around to reading the rest. Been running for days, getting settled, meeting up, etc... and they have been great, the weather has been gorgeous! Smoked the cheese you left yesterday in your honor at Voyagers with the group as i told them you had left it and have been adding to the 'fuck you up' salad you started

Gotta start my own report soon, been taking notes for two days but you know how it is. too busy having fun right now.

Big hug to you, my sweet friend and thank you again for everything.

Katsu was totally packed when I stopped in for a buy and fly. There is something about this shop that reminds me of my grandparent’s basement, in a good way. The blond budtendress was very busy, so the service was a bit brusque. I have to admit that since I had had such top service other places this trip, the whole buying experience here didn’t do much for me. I think that next trip I’ll skip this place and make sure I make it to some of the other de Pijp coffeeshops I’ve been hoping to try.

Image
Katsu’s So Gouda Isolator (about .15 g)

That being said, maybe I will be back because I did enjoy the gear. In particular, the SoGouda Isolator at .4g/10e was a really good deal, and a fun hash to add to joints and bong hits. No chemical taste, it burned really clean with a slightly oily herbal flavor. A nice blend of stone and high in the effect. Particularly good in a joint with the Lemon Skunk from Club Media. 9/10 with bonus points for value.

Image
Katsu’s Big Buddha Cheese

I also picked up some of Katsu’s Big Buddha Cheese (.9g/10e ?) because Basjoe’s Buddha Cheese had been my favorite smoke from the previous trip. This was a different strain, but with some similarities that I found pleasing.

Image
Katsu’s Big Buddha Cheese

The Big Buddha Cheese had a pleasantly happy stone and the smoke had a fainy greasy tang. The smell was herbs and cheese with pronounced lavender and dill aromas. The flavor was more green herb than cheesy, but a nice smoke overall 8.5/10.

Image
Katsu’s Amnesia Haze

Of course I bought the Amnesia Haze. (.9g/ 10e?) which was another really fine example of the strain. It had a lime soap powdery sour smell in addition to the haze perfume. The nug was nicely juicy and crystally. This Amnesia tasted strongly of limes with a distinct haze-candy flavor. Instant elevating slightly warm high. Kind of reminded me more of S-5 haze in its effects, but less tweaky. The high was balanced creative and open. 9.3/10. Lovely.

Eggsellent report on my favorite local (to my digs) cs... 1E Hulp..

The establishment tries hard to present quality gear, service and hospitality..

next time you are in town, maybe we can meet there for a T&T..

Glad you had a nice trip and thanks for the eloquent write up, I enjoyed it..

I need to keep my eyes on what I'm doing (Work at the moment)... Wish I could keep up better.. Had this thread all mixed up and haven't even read half the posts..
You peeps have a good day and nevermind ;-)

Will see many around later..

think I'll take a bake break now!

geekymonkey wrote:Our apartment is just west of the Jordan in the Oud-West district of Amsterdam. I picked it for its balcony and great kitchen, and both are completely awesome. The balcony is South-facing, so this time of year it has sunlight all day and overlooks the trees that are just blooming and putting out their first electric green leaves. It’s a quieter residential district, which I completely love. I’ll get some pictures at some point. More importantly, there seem to be a lot of great neighborhood shops.

Eerste Huilp (1e Hulp, First Aide) is right around the corner from me. I headed out there in the afternoon to stock up while my Mr. is napping. They had a ton of hazes on the menu and three indica, and when I asked the lovely brunette budtendress what was good, she indicated that everything was good, but particularly the Amnesia Haze.

Image
1e Hulp’s Amnesia Haze 10E/g

The bud was lovely, as dense a bud structure as I’ve ever seen on Amnesia Haze, with an almost overwhelming rosemary lemon candy perfume. It also sparkled. 2 grams. She gave me a large 1.7 ish gram nug and another small chunk to make a lovely two.

More savory flavor than most amnesia’s I’ve smoked. Tastes like rosemary focaccia on the inhale. (Rosemary, yeast, hint of salt?) Great haze aftertaste. Resinous buds, sound like wet sand hitting the paper. Great balanced haze high. Just so pleasant. I love amnesia haze. 9.5/10. A.

Image
1e Hulp’s Buddha Cheese Haze 10E/g

Herbal aroma that is both savory and sweet. Stongly evocative of blue cheese, port wine, with a haze flower undertone. Slightly drier cure. Equally crystally nug. Fantastic grinder appeal, really fluffs up and smokes nice. Flavor is a nice combination of savory and hebal, really reminds me of blue cheese, but you never forget it’s a haze. Uplifting strong high. Definitely elevating bordering on racy. 9/10 only because it’s not to my taste, it’s a very nice bud. A-

1e Hulp’s Buddha Cheese Haze 10E/g

More to come- Angel Dust Haze and Intensive Care

The service here was absolutely top, with the budtendress showing the weed, de-stemming, picking the best nuggets out, and weighing them in front of you. The weed is also a great value. The hazes are all 10E each and as good as any I’ve smoked in town in terms of quality and cure. The 3 indicas are 7.50 and 6.50 a gram.

Today I plan to get to Bij/ Boerenjongen and maybe Hugo de Groot or whatever it’s called (it’s marked on my map) or Paradox. Also coming up this trip will be a proper de Pijp crawl.

This was the post I was originally referring to, for some reason my post didn't pick up my comment.. I know, I am Tec challenged along with directionally challanged..

Club Media
Image
Lemon Skunk

Club Media is another shop where the service was great. The male budtender was great with showing the various weeds and making suggestions. He was also really friendly.

Image
Club Media’s Lemon Skunk

The Lemon Skunk (10e/g) had a light lemon smell with light skunk undertones and a whiff of coconuts. Solid velvety stone. Pleasant taste- tangy, lemony, lightly skunky on the exhale. Smooth smoke. Drier cure, but not over-dried. 8.5/10.

Club Media’s Hindu Kush

Media’s Hindu Kush (9e/g) has a spicy flavor with a lightly funky undertone. Notes of cut grass and tarragon. Hints of asphalt. Full spicy, tangy flavor. Neither taste nor smell are super strong, but distinct and yummy.

Image
Media’s Hindu Kush

Quiet, relaxed, fairly strong but not killer stone. Expansive and a bit grippy in the lungs. 8.5/10. Really good, good value, it’s just that there are other kush’s out there are scary good, but this one is a great value and distinctive, so definitely worth a smoke.

Club Media's Champagne Haze

The Champagne Haze (12.50e/g) was really beautiful bud that ground up to an amazingly crystal-ly ground sugar texture. It smells like oregano, yeast, and champagne with a hint of lime haze perfume, but the overall scent is much more aromatic than candy-like. The high had a wonderful muted warm ear sensation and a light lifted high with warm visual effects. Bit of sour grape candy flavor on the inhale along with sandalwood vanilla yeast flavor on the exhale. A nice haze, nice cure, nice quality. 9/10.
