Keukenhof Gardens trip around 420?

Post by philly-Rich »

This is way late, but,I was wondering if anyone would like to go see the fields of flowers at the Keukenhof. The gardens are open for 3 months,march-may.Rather than going inside the place,I was thinking of renting bikes and riding, smoking and looking at all the flowers,if the weather is nice enough. They also have boat rides that let you view the fields. To get there they have buses that leave from Schipol every 15 minutes. This would take the better part of a day so I don't know if anyone wants to,or if I will want to once I am actually in Amsterdam.Well let me know what you think.Herhttp://www.keukenhof.nl/en/28/bike-rental.htmle's a link.[Image

Rich - I had the same idea, though I am going from May 5-10. I asked a local, she says it's really too far for a day trip by bike. Looks doable to me, but then again I am kilometer challenged.

Went last year, it was ok. I strongly recommend (beg) you do not smoke in there or close around it. FULL of old people and its just the kind of bad rep the coffeeshops do not need.

My wife and I plan on spending at least one day in the tulip gardens(an acid trip without the acid) and a trip to see the MC ESCHER exhibit. I've looked at most options of transportation to get to these locations from scooter to private limo and I am still up for ideas. Maybe a few of us could rent a car (stay stoned coming and going).
We also want to go to Aachen,Germany to try out the hot springs and tour the old church. Renting a car with a group would work well.
We have ten days to do things around the weather.
Will be at the Monday late arrivals party at the Nes, will try and make a toke&vote session on monday day, most 420 activities for sure, hoping to go on the boat trip as an extra,The Friday night Rib joint, Little Buddha for dinner and music Sat.(have been to the one in Las Vegas several times). Would love to go to the one in Paris.
If any one wants to pair up, or get a group going, lets talk!

This saturday....April 16... the bloemencorso
http://www.keukenhof.nl/en/173/flower-p ... -2011.html

This will tell you more about the flower parade in April, it ends in Haarlem.
I saw it at keukenhof, and Haarlem in the same day, then the floats are left on display, for viewing.

here is a vid.... from the year I went

I rode the buss to the keukenhof, then walked to the main street, saw parade at 11, then train to Haarelm
I was surprised to see it lit up.

Several years ago I and a few friends went on a magical bicycle journey through tulip country. Although we did not go into the gardens, we did ride around the fields just east/northeast. We were staying near the RAI, which was our starting point, so the overall distance traveled was maybe four miles less than starting from the Grachtengordel/Centrum.
We started off with a wake and bake, then proceeded around Amsterdamse Bos (highly recommended, 5x bigger than Vondel Park), passing close by the airport (smoked a joint while watching planes land), then onwards south/southwest towards Leiden. Everywhere we looked there were flowers, simply amazing. This is definitely an all-day event, esp. when cycling. I think we rode nearly 30mi/45km which may seem a bit much, but when spread over 16hrs, not so much.
To comment further on sparking up inside the gardens, be an adult, use some discretion (read common sense). If anything, smoke-out before going in. TOO FUCKING EASY. Everybody benefits - one gets high, and others (including children) won't have to smell it or see someone getting high. Might be petty so some, but I call it being considerate.

Happy tulips...

I found Keukenhof interesting but would not go back again, there are other places to see flowers and its so crowded.

Coming from someone (not me right?) who got detained for possession in the Netherlands, at a closed off festival, I would say that if you can't see why its a bad idea to smoke around all those kids and grannies, consider this. You buy a ticket and the place is fenced. They could call the cops on you.

But really, there are places to avoid smoking weed, and I think that is one of them...

It's not late. Like Baby Bear's porridge... it's just right. There's a reason we've both wanted to go for quite some time, yet the plans always fell through. Had to have just the right company -- Keukenhoff here we come!

Can't wait to spend time with your family over there and go to Zandvoort. Too bad your mom won't be there then, but glad I'll see her on her birthday soon. Using your words it's gonna be: "THE BEST FUCKING TIME EVER!!!!"... and you thought you couldn't top last April.
