Taking hand luggage only, any of these not allowed?

Post by Dave J »

Just thought to ask as I'm going hand luggage only this trip if there is any obvious or doubtfull items in this list that are not or may not be allowed that I could have missed?:

Stills camera equipment
electric razor
portable dvd player
(all with chargers)
spray deodorent
pens
aftershave

Seems fine to me, just want to make sure on more regular travelers opinions as not 100% on the razor, pens or aftershave.

All of the items are ok, but as mentioned, the size of the containers for what I call foo-foo juice (deodorant, cologne/perfume, etc...) are limited. Check the website of the airline you are traveling with for the list restricted items and all that.

Knitting needles I can understand, but a pen, an instrument for writing? Don't think so, at least not yet.
Come to think of it, I would not be surprised if the TSA (and others as well) were to ban such items in the future seeing that they pose a potential threat. When given some thought, at least more than the typical knee-jerk reaction time, one can come to the conclusion that just about anything can pose a threat. Silly wankers...

Happy traveling...

Just checked and had to go get some roll on deodorent as the smallest spray 1 was 150mil so not going to chance it with that even if it's only 2/3 full.

By the way how strict are Easyjet with hand baggage sizes?. I got the info off the Easyjet site sating the max dimensions for hand luggage is 56x45x25 cm. The nearest size to that is quite well within the limit except for the hight!. The max hight being 25cm but my bag is about 28cm! Just wandering if I might get away with that seeing as the bag wont be full?.

Also as the bag is only outside the size dimensions limit in hight alone by just 3cm can I get away with putting a luggage strap round it the compress the empty space as that will take it nearer to more like 20cm of bag hight instead of the 28cm it is uncompressed?.

Should be fine, in my experience they tend not to ask you to place it into their dimension cage thing :? if it can squash up then grand. They are much more strict on ONE item of hand baggage  Word of advice join your queue early unless you have speedy boarding as those overhead bins fill pretty quickly with everyone taking fairly large hand baggage

Save yourselves the worry and buy them after security, deo, gel, sprays at airport will cost you around two or three quid more in total than buying at home.

Just buy everything (deodorant, aftershave etc.) in `dam, they are quite advanced in Holland & have shops that sell stuff just like the rest of Europe.
OK, stop taking the piss, I know. I always buy the stuff I need out there but if you`re stopping in a quality hotel most things you need are supplied.

Was I still stoned by then or where they also forcing and pretty much insisting everyong HAD to go through the body scanner?. If so have they changed the rules on that being optional or where they naughty having every fucker use the body scanner on the monday (edit: meant friday 22nd night) night?.

Then again in thinking every flight that evening (all easyjet to for some reason) from that section where all UK destination flights and there were at least 5 on the board that I noticed.
