Thanks for posting such detailed memories (and great photos) of your Amsterdam trip!! You folks seem quite organized. I started out taking notes on my last couple of trips over there, but by the end, it usually devolved into little scraps of paper with the strain and coffeeshop name in each baggie.
I became a first-time father at 49, so it looks like I won't be traveling to the Netherlands until around 2027 or so. Hopefully the coffeeshops will still be thriving (and possibly offering a senior citizens discount

.) Until then, keep posting of your adventures, so I can visit A'dam vicariously!!
Peace!

first apologies to lemming for going off-topic
congratulations woodz60 upon becoming a first-time father at 49 and best wishes to all the family
please note that there is a real but small window of travel opportunity when the baby is really small and hasn't yet started to walk ... at that age they are equivalent to just another piece of luggage (though much easier to love) and can be transported easily, though the usual on-going maintenence is required with feeding and nappy-changing etc
you have to be flexible and have a sense of humour, but travelling with a baby can be done and you could make it to amsterdam easily within the next year ... and the dutch are good with children, so no worries there
travelling with a child after the first year is also possible ... once they get their legs you have to watch them all the time, but travel is still possible even then ... be adventurous
well my off-topic session is now over ... back to the 420 memories and photographs which i am enjoying a lot, thanks lemming for all the photos

Still off topic
Welcome to the ACD woodz60.
I became a first-time father at 49, so it looks like I won't be traveling to the Netherlands until around 2027 or so.
Congratulations on the first bit, but I'm wondering why you will have to put off any more trips for so long. It's a wonderful place for family holidays superb beaches and very child friendly with loads for children of all ages to do, and the public transport is brilliant. We have had some of our best holidays there and no more expensive than the sea side in UK.
Zeeland in the south for us this August, and this year my children will be taking their children, 2 7yr olds and 2 little ones,12 of us in all.
Blue skies

Sorry to have gone off topic, but what I meant to say was that my dollars spent on airplane tickets, coffeeshop purchases, pannenkoeken, real beer, Thai Bird, Chocomel, cheese, etc. is now going for food, diapers and such. Thanks for the travel suggestions, though. If through some strange twist of fate I am able to travel over, I shall surely attend some T & T gatherings!
As I mentioned before, please continue traveling to het Nederlands and posting pictures, reviews and other trip details.
Tot ziens!!
