2 Weeks, can't wait!!

Post by ACDlurker »

I sit here at my job and can't stop thinking about my trip in two weeks! I'm a little excited, ok I'm lying, I'm really excited. This will be the first time I actually get to stay in Amsterdam for a couple days instead of just a day visit on the ICE train. So I consider it to still be one of my first times to the city. We're staying at Voyagers so it should be real easy to find from Centraal. One question though, when you arrive at Schiphol, how do you go about getting to Centraal? is there a tram, train, bus, taxi?

I'm coming with a couple of non smokers, but it will all be good, hopefully. We're planning on visiting the Anne Frank house (well they are), and going to XtraCold Ice Bar, yeah I know its touristy, but I had to find activities that wasn't just them watching me get zombified. I also think we are headed to the Sex Museum, one of my friends, she is really excited to go there. Does anyone have a suggestion on a canal tour? If any locals want to join us for these events, just hit me up, we're friendly for the most part

.......having Amsterdam dreams!..........

NO to a taxi or bus or walking lol.

Get a train. it is all signposted when you land. get your return ticket, go downstairs to the platform 10 minutes ur be at centrall station. come out of there all excited.look far across the back and you see voyagers( don't get run over by the trams or bikes ,have your wits about you. You can't really get lost lol.

The sex museum is ok for a firts time experience, I stll think its a waste of money.

A sex show would be more fun!

I guess I will let you know how tat turns out over the next 6 days lol as im off there tomorrow.

I know the feeling. I cant wait myself, to visit AMS later this summer.

You can catch a train from Schipol to Amsterdam. Schipol has a large main train station within it. You will want to buy a second class ticket to Amsterdam CS (Centraal Station). You can purchase it from the machine or the walk up window. Be sure to sit in the 2nd class section and not first, otherwise you'll get a ticket. Most everyone traveling from Schipol to Amsterdam CS takes 2nd. The train ride is maybe 20 minutes to the city.

For Space Cakes, I highly recomend Paradox coffee shop. They have good homemade cakes with a good amount of THC. Many other coffee shops have packaged commerical ones, which dont taste that good and barely give you a buzz due to almost no THC. Paradox does it right with thiers, though. LaTertulia coffee shop also has some good homemade cakes and organic weed, too.

You might also want to look into a IamAmsterdam museum card. Good for 1 year and you can visit many musuems for free. The card also comes with some freebie stuff and canal boat ride and bike rental discounts, as well. It is really a bargain and I always pick one up for my trip.

Here's their website. You can buy online or outside of the Amstedam CS in the tourist vistors info booth.

Speaking of bikes, they are the BEST way to get around Amsterdam. Ive rented fro ma few palces and the one place I've gone back to several times is Discount Bike Rental. Their bikes are in good condition and everything works. They also donthave loud colors and make you look like a tourist riding them. Unlike some of the more visible bike rentals (MacBikes or Orange bike). Discount Bike Rental als ohave very good rates to rent as well.

Here's their website:

The iAmsterdam card is good for a maximum of 72 hours. The Museumkaart is good for one year, here is a link to their website in Dutch http://www.museumkaart.nl/

Yes!

My mistake. It is the MuseumKaart which I always pick up.

althoguh for those staying for up to 3 days, the Iamsterdam card may be worth it.

Thanks for the info guys! Especially the getting out of Schiphol and in to Centraal. I'm searching the websites trying to find somewhere that's playing some dubstep/house stuff. The only problem is I've never heard of some of the people who are going to be around, and they don't come right out and say what they spin.
