Hash Presses

Post by Cisco »

Hey peeps , I'm enjoying making dry sift and have been looking at presses and such like . I was liking the space case presser thing , pocket size and cheap (cheap the main point lol) however during research I came across a great thread on icmag using a kiddies clay extruder thing  well iv ordered one so stay tuned :D

Looks interesting mate.
Exactly how big is a dime?? 1p, 5p, 10p or quid size?
I quite like the idea of having hash with the queens face on it, it'll be like it's by royal approval, lol
Good luck with it :D

A dime is the same size as a 5p but it's a lot thinner.

So the result of a couple of runs , one with heat one without

Image

My second run without heat was a bit tricky to separate the hash from the coin (I used a wax proof paper sandwich in the first) and will continue to use that method

Heat

Image

Well chuffed with this first go , heat was added by holding under a running hot tap left a nice coin imprint in the hash

Second go had a nice Mickey Mouse print  but because I never used the paper stuff it stuck to the dies so had to break it :x  no heat added

Thanks , pretty pleased how it turned out  don't have anymore skuff to use though  :o   for now

So what are dimes like ? The 5 pences that im using have a ridge right round the edge , where the trichs get pressed into making it tricky to separate ! Are Dimes flat ?

i just found this web page which shows some dimes on their side ... dimes are slightly thinner than the 5 pence coin, roughly 2/3s the depth, but they also have a ridge right round the edge similar in size to the 5 pence coin ... and they have president roosevelt on them

http://eholshoe.edu.glogster.com/dime/

i have a spare pair of dimes which you can have if you want them ...

i also have a 1/2 pence coin whose ridge is not as high as the 5 pence, ie the coin is flatter, and is only a little bit smaller in width

The dime is an odd coin, the side with President Roosevelt's portrait has a raised edge and the other side is flat
