Thank you my (BFF) best forum friend... It is what it is and won't effect those of us who plan on living there.

The hard thing, imho, it's the step back on path of weed liberation.
And what a step back! Netherland, former home-country of tolerance among drugs.
The impact on public opinion will be deep...conservative will spread this news all over the world like an historical victory.
I can presume it will affect even the legalitation process in usa, wich is now at a crossroads.
We know that this is not a victory: we know the "drug tourism" consist mostly of person tired of the bad quality in the black market and this is a result of prohibitionism itself. We also know we are not the junkies painted by press or politicians...

Most of what MHD says comes from his Dutch girlfriend who is heavily involved with the cannabis community, who should people listen to her? (those that know Jackie know she is on the ball with all things canna) or a septic who thinks you should only take 3 tokes.

Some have mentioned the weed pass, it has been going on in certain towns in Limburg Province (Venlo being one) for years. I had two passes, one from Roots/Oase and the other from Nobody's Place. They called it a membership, registration cost 5 Euro which is credited to the next purchase.
Among the information that the card provides include:
- Passport Information (they scan the passport and save the info)
- How many purchases made in a day, week, month, year...
- How much was purchased
- Where it was purchased
- Date of purchase(s)
- etc...
The main reason why I stopped going to these shops was because of slight paranoia. Not a stretch of the imagination to think that the local authorities will give this information to the country of origin and in my case, Germany. I started to become a little paranoid that they would use this information to pull me over whenever I was reentering Germany from The Netherlands, so my fix was/is to take the train. Fuck em...
Whatever happens, and whether I like it nor not, it's their country.

From Nols facebook page dated yesterday
Municipalities can ignore weedpass....
According to Minister Opstelten's concept letter to the Tweede Kamer (the official one, not the coffeeshop) about the Weedpass, it is up to the Mayors weather coffeeshops become members clubs and will ...refuse foreigners.
He will discuss his plan in the Ministers Council on Friday.(today)
This means nothing will change in Amsterdam, Haarlem, and all other cities with coffeeshops....

This is a twisted version of what actually was decided. Yes they want cities to implement the resident only wietpass but as mentioned in another topic this will be decided on a city by city basis. Everyone calm down. If the wave starts in the south and starts gaining momentum then I'll start getting concerned. But even then there's More money for The City of Amsterdam with tourists allowed to purchase small amounts of cannabis than the alternative so I just can't fathom it happening. What you have are misinterpretations of the ideas of right wing xenophobes who are grasping at straws...

Here is how it works in Venlo. You enter the shop and show them your pass (and photo ID). If you don't have a pass (membership), you buy one. If you are not a Dutch citizen/resident, they will show you the door. The rule is members only. If guests were allowed, why have the ban in the first place?
I don't give a fuck either way. I smoked weed long before I ever stepped into a C/S, and will continue to do so long after the last one closes (if this comes to pass).
If this happens, then it happens. If not, then it's business as usual.
Nothing happy about this shit...

this topic is getting way too much attention. Amsterdam isn't changing any time soon. It would be like telling the cinese they can't grow anymore rice. Going to the cup this year, and then i will start to thinking about an alternative "adult" vacationland.. Cali, or maybe a trip to Seattle once a year. I do have a cousin in Montana who i'm sure would be cool with fetching me some gear. Hopefully it will be legal here soon. such a pain and bother getting mediocre gear and never knowing what it is.. or if it was cared for properly..
