Densha's Park Visits

I have decided to live in Amsterdam during the spring-summer months. I'm still trying to obtain a short term apartment, so am camping while this is arranged. I visited here for a few days back in may and stayed at the Qbic hotel inside the World Trade Center in Zuid. Since that trip has become a haze, I'll give a recap of my latest visit from last week....

Day 1

Plane takes off and assends at a different direction to it's normal route. My house is 20 miles away from the airport, and it was surreal seeing my village as the plane was assending. I brought my Nintendo 3DS with me and was taking 3d photos from the plane, a great way of passing time.

Arrive at Central Station and go straight to Dampkring 2. One gram of cheese, One gram of amnesia haze, and a gram of sativa mix. Find a nice scenic spot on Brouwersgracht and roll 'n smoke a joint. If you're going to make joints outside, a shoulder bag or backpack is always advisable, so you can build it inside the bag to protect from the wind.

Once I was nicely toked up, I went back to Central Station and bought a 7 day public transport pass for 30 euros.

Get the tram to Zeeburgereiland and arrive at Camping Zeeburg. Set up tent and get back to smoking. Get some sleep after a nightime walk.

Day 2

Wake and bake, then off to Central for food supplies. I'm probably the cheapest bastard I know, so every day I visited Albert Heijn and got my usual supply of a pack of ham, loaf of bread, chocolate, and 6 pack of apple juice. My taste buds crave weed much more than food, so eating nice food is never a priority.

My first park visit to Westerpark. One thing I love about Amsterdam is the parks. Always tranquil, and luckily the weather was great all week. I always take a travelogue book with me and this trips book was 'The Roads to Sata: A 2000-mile Walk Through Japan'. I usually walk approx 10-15 miles a day when in Amsterdam. After the last trip (blisters on nearly every toe, and pressure point pain), I obtained some Berghaus trek books and some very expensive Bridgedale endurance trekker socks and coolmax liners. Suffice to say, I never suffered one blister, but my calfs were fucked by the end of the week.

Once I was nicely stoned from the park visit, I walked to Amsterdam Zuid, so I could take some 3d photos of the skyscrapers, and visit my favourite park of Amsterdam, Beatrixpark. This is probably the quietest park in Amsterdam, definitely the best place to go if you want a rest from the hustle and bustle. There are two green parrots who live here, and the way they interact and play with each other is fun to watch as they fly branch to branch on the trees. Happy with my visit, I get the tram back to CS, pick up some vanilla kush from Barneys , and back to the campsite for food and more smoke.

Walk to Oosterpark and enjoy smoking and watch some documentaries on my PSP. Great atmosphere at this park. Loads of bbq's & parties here. Not exactly quiet, but fantastic atmosphere. Walk back to campsite and have the most horrible sleep due to my crappy sleeping mat (note to self, buy an inflatable one you cheap fuck!), and a pair of gimps who are laughing like morons at 5am in the tent behind me. Told them to STFU, which did the job.

Will post more later, sorry if you found it boring.

thanks for the report

i have not been to any of those parks ... i have been to vondelpark, sarphatipark and rembrandtpark and enjoyed them all

my favourite walking area is in the south in amstelveen (via 172 bus) and is called het amsterdamse bos

"bos" in dutch means forest and the man-made park is a mix of woodlands, open fields, hills and lakes and is the perfect venue for your boots and socks ... there is also a campsite in the south of the park

here are some links for the bos

Thanks for those links stoned. I'll definitely visit there when I return on the 15th of this month. I was aware of the campsite, but not the surrounding area.

I'm sure I'll visit a t&t one day, just need to get some social confidence, which my regular Amsterdam trips are helping to slowly improve.

Het Amsterdamse bos to get there from central you take Metro 51 and get off near the end of the line at Spinnerijā€Ž, it a 5minute walk fro there it you look out the window just b4 getting at the stop youll see a supermark (i think its a HA o Dirk van..)
at the campsite they rent Beds in hut for 10-15euro a night!
Mid-way in Bos Park is the place to be (spent alot of time cloud watching here)
also nice to bike the park from centrum take you about 1hours from centrum (if you dont get lost)

the map of the bos given here as a .pdf file is available as an inexpensive folded paper map from the visitor centre at the north end of the park ... the detail of the map is good and shows all the paths, so you will be able to use it to navigate your own route

in the schinkelbos area near the southwest corner of the park there are highland cows roaming around ... passing by these animals when walking along a path is ok as they are quite gentle, but i always find actually walking past them to be a real challenge ... my method is just to keep talking to them and tell them how beautiful they are and they then become so puzzled by this conversation that they just stand there and look at me and i can just walk by without any bother

enjoy your walk ...

:)

Animals are a walk in the park (pardon the pun) compared to humans. I'm looking forward to encountering those cows.

I sometimes take the 51 metro to Zuid, so thats good that it goes near bos too.

I've never been to Erasmus Park. It's small size put me off, but i'll visit there too when I go to Rembrandpark on the same day.

Not boring at all. If it's sunny, I'd rather be outside anyways. Most of my last trip was spent hanging/smoking in Vondelpark or Sarphatipark.

Video game merchandise

Day 3

Usual routine to central, bought a gram of g13 haze at dampkring. Tram ride back to tent to watch some documentaries and feed the ducks.

Walked to Diemerpark, but took the wrong turn and ended up in Ijburg. Went to Albert Heijn and bought 6 cans of larger. I only drink maybe twice a year and it's usually Jack Daniels when I do. I hate larger, but was on a budget. Got tipsy at Blijburg beach. The beach and area is still under construction, but there was people there including kite surfers. If you want to visit there, take the tram 26 from central station (approx 15 mins ride).

Went back to Albert Heijn and bought 4 more largers. Took the tram into Central, got a gram of cheese from Dampkring and went to Westerpark to finish off my drinks and have a smoke. The rest of the night is a bit of a blare. I was so drunk that I could hardly keep my eyes open on the tram, not from tiredness, but from feeling completely wasted from all the alcohol and cheese I smoked. Had to have the tram driver inform me that it had reached the end of the line and I had already arrived at my stop. Straight back to the tent after a drunken walk for much needed sleep.
