LaTertulia would be my choice, considering your guidelines 5iver! It's a nice comfortable shop that serves food, pretty limited though. It's a place that you could hang at for hours, and they have plug-ins next to some of the tables; you would probably need a converter for any plug-in in Amsterdam!

Thanks for your replies, they have been very helpful!! I am about to embark on a long long journey from Australia with all sorts of connecting flights, but if all goes well, I will be in Amsterdam early Friday morning!
